| 3OH!3 – Colorado Sunrise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
If he has 5 fingers on each hand for every mistake that he's made, he's only made 1 mistake. This line throws me. I think he's TRYING to say he's made a lot of mistake but unless he has a crazy abnormal number of fingers, his math is off. Granted, he could be saying each finger is a mistake and it's just poorly communicated. |

| Black Kids – Look at Me (When I Rock Wichoo) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's completely about a girl who's too religious to have sex with him. As someone who went from being very adamant about these values to losing religious conviction, this song is hilarious. | |
| Daft Punk – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Alright, so this song makes me think of weight training. It's like the parts of the Kanye song I liked, taking away the horny-guy-in-a-club stuff [I realize this is the original; I heard it after Kanye's]. I reaaaally want to work out to it. Very cool song. |

| We the Kings – Skyway Avenue Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Perhaps it should be noted that the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a huge bridge that connects Manatee and Pinellas counties and has so many suicide jumps that there are multiple solar-powered telephones at the top that directly connect to a crisis center. They also have cameras installed that send a live feed to Crisis Centers of Tampa Bay. Doesn't clear up anything [the song's pretty straightforward], but it's interesting information for anyone not actually from the area. |

| Avril Lavigne – He Wasn't Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Na na na na na, We've all got choices, Na na na na, We've all got voices, Na na na na na, Stand up make some noise, Na na na na, Stand up make noise..." This part is ridiculously lame. It has nothing to do with the rest of the song...except we've all got the choice to break-up with loser boyfriends? Other than that, decent enough song. Good to listen to when you don't want to be depressed about a break-up I guess. |

| Sara Bareilles – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song owns my life. Michy77 got it. The song is self-explanatory. |
| Tina Turner – What's Love Got To Do With It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Love is a secondhand emotion because it's given to so many people. Like, the guy she's referring to in the song has probably "been in love" before so it's not like getting something new. Does that make sense? I think the song starts out as I-won't-fall-in-love but then in the second verse she's in denial. "There's a name for it; There's a phrase that fits; But whatever the reason you do it for me..."--That phrase? "In love." "I've been thinking about my own protection It scares me to feel this way." She's been trying to protect herself from getting hurt, so she's scared to feel like she might be falling in love. |
| Sister Hazel – Come Around Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Summer relationship where she isn't as into it as he is. She might be afraid to let herself fall in love and have that connection to someone. | |
| Sister Hazel – Your Mistake Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'd think that this song is about the beginning of a relationship that he doesn't want to rush into and risk being her mistake. Maybe she's expressed hesitation or he can sense she's a little uneasy. | |
| Anna Nalick – More Than Melody Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love her style in these newly released songs. So raw. It's likely a one-night stand, but it could be a relationship that she's unsure of too. At the end she seems to conclude that he's "more than melody" to her. |
| Avril Lavigne – Things I'll Never Say Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I want to say that the blatant [and they are blatant, no one her age could write a song with those lyrics and pauses and not mean it] oral sex references followed by something completely innocent perhaps is meant to mean that she doesn't just want the sexual part of the relationship, but the emotional one. It's sort of like a really lame joke if you were to say it to someone...like, "Hey, I want to blow you..." *pause* "AWAY!" *giggle*. Except less lame, because things always seem less lame in a song. | |
| Anberlin – Alexithymia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| WADS: It's a slang word, dear. It's a word as much as "holla" or "hella" are words... | |
| Anberlin – Reclusion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Inamorata and xEmoLoverx, they edited the lyrics and straightened out the issue. Think [and read] before you post next time, xEmoLoverx. | |
| Avril Lavigne – Fall To Pieces Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I interpret this to be like their last day together before he [or she] heads off somewhere and they'll be separated for awhile. She doesn't want to break down completely [fall to pieces] or talk about the inevitable, but she wants to cry in front of him and make herself completely vunerable because she has realized that she has fallen in love with him and doesn't want him to go. | |
| Anberlin – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I like this song. I'm still unsure on just what he wants with that overpass. It sounds like he wants to get some, or get high, or something. I had no idea it was a cover. |
| Anberlin – Reclusion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is actually alarmingly dark for Anberlin. See: "There's a knot of seclusion, production, and depression If a stranger turns up missing, this song is my confession Tell the tales of the trail of dead, lovers learn from slower hands Losing self in myself, inner demons make demands." I love the song. Love it. |
| Anberlin – Inevitable Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow. This song is breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. | |
| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| MJ's Neverland was based off of Peter Pan. Either instance is intended to be a place of childhood joy and endless youth. | |
| Hawk Nelson – Letters To The President Lyrics | 19 years ago |
So they're not brave enough to write a simple letter, but they'll write this song and perform it? Interesting. I hate their horrendous grammatical error in the chorus ("But for now I won’t say nothing."). It makes me cringe. Perhaps they are trying to say that until they're brave enough they won't shut-up and they'll speak up this way, but I refuse to give the benefit of the doubt there. "Same-sex marriage in a state where they don't care." I don't like this line either. They're anti-same-sex marriage and are implying that it's legal in state X because the legislature doesn't care about the immorality of it. "Murder is wrong but the jail time’s not fair." I almost want to say this is sarcastic towards people who feel that prisons are cruel and unusual and perhaps seem to overlook the crime that the incarcerated committed. I like some of Hawk Nelson's stuff, but this song doesn't do it for me. I'm all for reformation and social change and trying to make a difference, believe me, but I clash with this song and find some of it to be somewhat poorly written. |

| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It sounds like a street that she's prostituting herself on in one of her songs. Did you read my previous comment? Maybe it's "Lexington course your veins". Like course through them. |
| Anberlin – Readyfuels Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Sex. Definitely sex. Their getting a little a little frisky in the car; he wants her dress [off]; that they've gotten close to sex has left him "jaded, contemplative waiting for [her]". So either he's waiting for their next date and thinking over this issue, she was the one who prevented them from having sex and he's waiting for her to let him hit it, or "her" refers to his future wife. I'm not sure what dying dream he's referring to though. Hmmm... Great song. |
| Anberlin – Cadence Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Cadence can be one of the songs played by a drumline or the breaks between phrases in a song. For example, in this song when he says "Cadence" *pause* "I dance with the dead..." would be an example of a cadence [sort of]. It's a pretty word though, and I agree it'd be a pretty girl's name. |
| Anberlin – Downtown Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| What's this song from? I've never heard it. | |
| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Right, so the line "Lights go dead; corpse remains" always sounds like "Lexington, cross your veins" to me. Google Nico's "I'm Waiting For the Man" lyrics. "I'm waiting for my man Twenty-six dollars in my hand Up to Lexington 125 Feeling sick and dirty, more dead than alive I'm waiting for my man" So that could just be coincidence, but maybe not. |

Yeah, I forgot to make that clear. Yes, Nico=Christa Paffgen. It's sad how exciting that was. |

| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
WAIT. LOOK! "Hotel Chelsea is often associated with the Andy Warhol's "superstars", as he directed The Chelsea Girls (1966), a film about his Factory regulars and their lives at the hotel. Chelsea residents from the Warhol scene included Viva, Larry Rivers.Ultra Violet, Mary Woronov, Holly Woodlawn, Edie Sedgwick, Andrea Feldman, Nico, Paul America, and Brigid Berlin." --Wikipedia [lol] That's it. That's totally it. That was invigorating. |
| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Christa released a CD entitled "Chelsea Girl". She died in Ibiza on 18 July 1988 after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage while cycling in intense heat. So perhaps "Chelsea Hotel" is really meant to make an allusion to that. It's like, if you're sleeping in the "Chelsea Hotel", meaning involved in a life of drugs and such, "bad turns to worse and the worst turns into hell", like death [or literally Hell, depending on how harsh you want to be]. Wow, great thought eltroyo. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – The Dangling Conversation Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I love this song. Love. It just seems to fit certain things in my life. |

| Yellowcard – Two Weeks From Twenty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Support the troops, not the war. I'm thinking that wanting the war over and the troops safe at home would be the best support you could possibly offer. Trying to fight a war with people who will willingly blow themselves up to be posthumously honored as martyrs by their society [and by 'society', I mean the particular cult-esque group terrorists would be involved in, not Muslims or Iraqis as a whole] probably won't end in a glorious victory for America. Point being, bands are allowed to get as political as they want. It's their music. Music is a form of self-expression. If I'm into song-writing and I feel like some good old Bush-bashing, I'm going to compose a little ditty to share my thoughts. I like the song. Perhaps "right to be proud" refers to more of the lines of freedoms and free-thinking. He's just signed himself up to go fight a war where he'll have no say in anything that he's forced to do. |

| Panic! at the Disco – Build God, Then We'll Talk Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't think the virgin is necissarily lying about her virginity. Perhaps she's been pressured so much to get a job/keep a job/is so hard on herself to succeed that she's succumbed to something so low as sleeping with the boss to keep in good favor. |
| Dave Melillo – Vatican Roulette Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| And makes sense. Hardcore Catholics hate birth control. | |
| Dave Melillo – For the Sake of Remembering Lyrics | 19 years ago |
To me it sounds like the song's about someone who commited suicide. It sounds like the singer had spent time trying to reassure her and it didn't work. But the sudden death also seems very plausable. |
| The Carpenters – Rainy Days and Mondays Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Carpenters are love. She died of heart failure as a result of anorexia nervosa. She did use Ipecac to aid in purging, so technically that was a factor in her death but not really what straight-up killed her. Not long before her death, she was force-fed and gained like 20 pounds in two weeks. Unfortunately, at the time, doctors didn't realize that that's more than a little unhealthy, and especially hard on an already weak heart. It's a very complicated story. Todd Haynes' account of her story is not to be taken as historically accurate. He pretty much used her for his commentary on society. It could've really been about anybody. Anyway, this song made me fall in love with the Carpenters. It will always be my favorite from them. |
| Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I've actually almost interpreted it as a songwriter --} listener message. When friends just can't be found, you can listen to me sing and I'll ease your mind. When I'm depressed I turn on this song and cry. Yeah... But it's beautiful. |
| The Carpenters – Close to You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh my dear, no one puts the Carpenters to shame. That familiar clinking of the piano at the beginning will always make me smile. =) |
| Anberlin – Godspeed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Sorry. I had a lessthanthree heart and it killed my whole post! The first post was better, but here's a recap. Okay, so I'm thinking that the lyrics here have something to do with purity and not being "tainted" if you will, by society. He's trying to disprove the saying the only the good die young thing (see Billy Joel lyrics). There's an element of pushing towards the future and staying true to yourself and your morals/beliefs/ideals/whatever. Perhaps that just comes from where I am in my life and struggles though. Either way, the song absolutely rocks and I'm so excited to hear that Anberlin has lost nothing in their new two songs. =) |
