"drink up, baby, look at the stars, i'll kiss you again between the bars" This song is about his alcohol problem. Elliott used to have alcohol on stage with him when he sang, & he talks about kissing(drinking) the bottle again between the bars. bars as in chords on a guitar. |

I disagree with alot of you, because elliott smith was more than just a drug addict. something in the songs may refer to drugs, but i don't think that's what the whole song is about. when he says "so leave me alone, you ought to be proud that i'm getting good marks." he talking about his record dealers trying to change his music & make it into something that he's not. He saying for them to just leave him alone because he's 'getting good marks'. everyone loves his music, & they would ruin it. |
