I was just reading a poem called "Who Says Words with My Mouth?" by the Sufi master Rumi and there's a line that reads "Whoever brought me here will have to take me home". I immediately thought of this song. |

I didn't pirate the song. These were the lyrics I heard from listening to the song on their Myspace. But great way to assume! |

The allegory of the cave didn't come to mind while listening to this song, but it's interesting to think about in the context of this song. |

I hear something about drowning in the second verse. It's something like "They can drown in holy water, I think it's time we all come clean." At least that's what it sounds like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jew-8QyfenI |

This song seems to be about meeting a girl only late at night at bars. Then he'll take her home for the night and won't see her during daytime hours. He'll only see her at night - he's never seen her face in the sunshine. He finds a problem with this situation and wants to work it out and turn it into a real relationship, but the more he considers trying to get it to work, the more he realizes that it's better to keep it casual. |

To me, this song is about someone who the singer shares everything with, but whenever they argue, that person spills all of her secrets. |

Now that you mention it, I see the connection between this song and The Death of a Salesman. The main character Willy, who was a traveling salesman, was a bit delusional and he went kind of crazy. He wasn't very good at his job, either. He eventually killed himself so that he could give his family the insurance money. |

I mean, I think the two albums have a similar tone, but other than that and the beginning of this song and "Sowing Season", I can't really see any other similarity. It would be great if yo could enlighten us. So go on, 'splain yourself Lucy! |

Yeah. I kind of see two people taking a dip in a pool at a party, just jumping in with all of their clothes on, and everyone around them is just too into their own business to notice or care. They're all too caught up in themselves to enjoy life or do anything out of the ordinary. So these two people are just swimming, not caring what anyone thinks, and enjoying the other's company, having fun together. |

Hahaha, I knew it! Thank you for the validation hugretchen.
Anyways, I want to say a little something else. I first heard of MO when they went on tour with Brand New. I really fell in love with Mantchester Orchestra after seeing them perform. I remember them playing this song. It's one of two songs that I can remember them playing because it's such an amazing song. |

You can't dis Chris (hahaha, I love it when I rhyme). Everything he does is amazing. I don't care if he's scratching his nails on a board or recording the sounds of a dying moose - it's Chris Conley and therefore it is great music. |

Theethicalkirsten: They're not a Christian band; however, they are christians who happen to be in a band.
Now, I still want to know what "colly strings" are. Has anyone found out yet? I just don't see the connection between colly and strings. |

There are only two songs, that I can remember, that have ever made me cry – this song and “The No Seatbelt Song” by Brand New.
I can't necessarily relate to losing someone I'm very close to, but I can totally relate to the hopelessness in the song. The line "You told me this has always been worth living. What's really worth living anymore?" breaks me down. |

I haven't listened to this song in a good three years, but I just listened to it today because I'm relating this song and "70x7" to a book I've been reading for my college honors English class for my final. I don't think I've ever realized the impact and the emotion this song holds until just now. Wow. |

Please, mtb, please don't get all political and anti-Bush on me now! But I do think it's a very political song. He's singing about how we've been ignoring the current state of our world and the problems we're having now because we're focusing too much on the future. There are problems that need fixing now - these issues aren't going to go away just because we're ignoring them. This war is a religious war - we're trying to conver the whole world to Christianity by bombing it. And we're so quick to condem people in the Middle East because of their beliefs. I don't agree with the message behind this song. I love MTB and all, but I don't love the message behind this. But maybe I have it all wrong. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the war or the U.S. or christianity. |

The first time I heard this, I thought it was Hayley Williams, because it sounds like her, but I wasn't sure. I would've never seen her doing a collaboration with SA, but the song is great.
I think the meaning behind the song is pretty obvious. |

I never knew if he was singing "When I fly solo, I fly so high" or if it was "When I fly SO LOW, I fly so high." And I always thought that he sang "we all deserve TO LIVE," but now that I read the lyrics and once I listen more closely, he definitely is saying "something" and not "to live." Either way, this song is still amazing. I completely fell in love with MO when I heard them perform this song while on tour with Brand New. Speaking of which, does anybody else think that the beginning of this song sounds like the beginning of BN's "Sowing Season?" |

The ending is actually "Besides, we can't believe without bleeding" - not fear. Andy said so on their forums (http://www.themanchesterorchestra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9)
I'm not sure what the song really means. To me, different parts of the song mean different things and refer to different experiences. Apparently, Andy said that the part about Seth Ott is about a time when he passed out in Seth's room after hearing some "rather alarming news." He made it seem as if that particular verse was about a particular occasion, which makes me think that throughout the song he is refering to several different memories.
Anyways, part of me thinks that the song is about someone he was close to dying or some how deserting him so that the relationship ended. I don't know... But I really don't think that it's about gay lovers. |
