Godsmack – Serenity Lyrics 18 years ago
Amazing song, especially the chorus.

And Alice in Chains is not post-grunge... their first album was created in 1990...

Radiohead – Creep Lyrics 19 years ago
This song acts on a human emotion that is felt by almost everyone during high school. You think you're a creep, a weirdo, nothing special, and put the person you like on a pedastal. The lyrics to this song are so raw, so emotional. It's a very simple song, with simple lyrics and literary devices, but it's just so real. The two similes in the first paragraph, for instance, really put you in the situation, because they're simple enough to be written by someone in high school. It's a masterpiece, an anthem for our time. If historians are digging up lyrics a century later, I hope they dig this up.

Audioslave – What You Are Lyrics 19 years ago
I adore this song... it's great. I always kind of liked the throat thing between "set" and "set myself on fire"; it makes it seem like he's having trouble just wording it because it's so painful. The song is about giving too much in a relationship. I love the ways that it is expressed, though, with the lighting on fire, cutting veins for blood, and bleeding. Those are powerful lines. My favorite line is "And when you asked for light / I set myself on fire." It's so raw, emotional, and moving for the situation. Everyone should learn from this song: never ever be a slave to anyone else, especially not for love.

Soundgarden – Bleed Together Lyrics 19 years ago
Even though the rest of the song definitely doesn't lay credence to my claim, I think the song is about relationships, mainly because of the "We can bleed together" chorus. I dunno, I think relationships are always about two people bleeding together. It's such an interesting way to say it, though, "bleed together." Suffer together, really. But maybe even rally support for one another. When I first heard this I thought Cornell was singing "BE together" and I chuckled when I later figured out he was saying BLEED. Still means the same thing to me, though, either way.

Audioslave – Revelations Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about *gasps* revelations. What type of revelations - religious, romantic, sarcastic, whatever, is up to the listener to interpret. The catchy chorus with the line repeating echo is what originally got me into this song. My favorite line is "In the afterlife we'll reap" because it's very optimistic. I'm a very pessimistic person, but the way Cornell sings it... just awesome. It makes me feel like this isn't the end, that we'll go on living in the afterlife in whatever way we desire, not akin to the dysfunctional way on earth. Also the lost soul and fix me lines are great, though a little cliche nowadays.

Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics 19 years ago
The last verse made me cry the first time I heard it. It's so powerful, raw, deep, emotional, and you can hear all of this in the singer's voice. This song, to me, is about losing the love of your life. For the speaker, everything is black and tattooed without the love. The speaker doesn't openly state that life isn't worth living, but one can clearly see he's having a tough time, as even laughter reminds him of his love. This song became an instant favorite for me the first time I heard it because of the last verse. But, as I replayed it more and more, I found out that the rest of the song is deep and powerful as well. The sun, the air, black, tattooing... it's just an amazing song.
