Bloc Party – This Modern Love Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about someone who knows that the other cares about them but is afraid to show it,
the first person loves the other and doesn't understand why they can't feel the same
It's about the time they spend together and the things that they do for eachother which shows that they both care
but then theres that element of uncertainty of whats going to happen next
the first person is always questioning why the other can't feel the same way, or at least express it like they do.

It's slight frustration and not real love, hence modern love, it's new and it's not how it used to be
it used to be easy carefree and natural but now complications are thrown in and it gets confusing and frustrating
Thats my view anyway ^^

The Medic Droid – Fer Sure Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about the "scene"
Everyone thinks theyre so unique but theyre actually all the same
this song is capturing everything that all people think is "cool" and individual and are all doing
It's about how our generation has been mixed up into all this casual sex and drugs and nothing has meaning anymore

Thats just what it means to me...im probably wrong

I Love This Song!

The Strokes – Last Nite Lyrics 19 years ago
okay i do think that it's about a couple but i'm not completely sure.
When she says:
"Oh baby don't feel so down
Way to turn me off
When I feel left out"
They're going through a lot of hard times and it's gotten so far that she's blaming him for stuff that isn't even his fault
I think it makes you think about the stages in all relationships
1)It's the beginning and everything is fine and your whole life seems to be perfect like nothing could go wrong, you're in "love" and feel that nothing can change it
2)You start to realise stuff about your partner that annoys you, little things that you don't realise at first but get worse and worse until you can't stand it any more
3) you start treating your boyfriend/girlfriend like your worst enemy, you don't want to be near them and you're constantly irritated by everything they do.
4) suddenly it's over and you either miss them or rejoice that it's over.

I think the stages that he is in is 3 to 4
"Oh people they don't understand
No girlfriends they can't understand
On top of this I aint never gonna understand
In spaceships they won't understand
And me I ain't ever gonna understand"
she has stopped understanding him unlike she seemed to when they were first going out, when they talked to eachother and understood eachother.
she is constantly moaning which irritates him, therefore he gets down, she then moans at him more because he's feeling depressed, it's a viscious circle and he wants to leave her, he wants to make it all seem okay but he's torn between two states of mind he can tell her to shut up

So I, I walked out
Oh baby don't care no more
I know this for sure
I'm walking out that door
and
So I, I turned round
Oh little girl I don't care no more
I know it's for sure
Way to turn me off, I'm running out that door, yeah

or he can leave her to think that everything will be fine, and leave on a better note

So I, I turned round,
Oh baby gonna be alright
It was a great big lie
'Cause I left that night
Yeah

he can lie to her, but either way he's leaving

i love this song, and i definately prefer the old stuff to the new

The Strokes – Electricityscape Lyrics 19 years ago
i agree with guinny 182, I think it's about how the music scene can change someone.
"Oh with strangers to impress so near
Old friends don't realize I'm here"
There are so many new people in the "scene" to impress that you forget who was there in the beginning, who you actually cared about and how they cared for you in return. He realises that he doesn't need to impress the new people he needs to get in touch with the people he has lost.

I'm not completely sure about this bit it could be either his old friends saying this to him, or him saying it to himself
"Change your mind tonight
You belong to the city now
And you're closer now
I know
"You belong on the radio..."
He is no longer their friend, he can't be with them because he belongs to the city, to the radio.

"I swear I'll give it back tomorrow
But for now I think that I'll just borrow
All the chords from that song
And all the words from that other song
I heard yesterday"
I ADORE this bit, It's perfect in showing how all these new bands who want to be the " new strokes" or the new " libertines" steal the whole sound, by saying that they want to be like them they are automatically trying to achieve something that they never will. They don't care about the music, they care about the scene that comes attached to the fame of being in a band. To accquire the desired fame they don't work hard like every other decent band they steal a sound, or similar themes or words from a song and try to make it their own. I hate that, that's why i love that the strokes realise this.

I also really like the title, "Electricityscape It's like the whole "cityscape" is live (electricty) with new bands and a whole new scene that everyone seems to be juping on because it's "in fashion"

I'm not sure thats just what i think about whenever i hear this song

The Strokes – 15 Minutes Lyrics 19 years ago
i agree with most people in thinking that he sounds similar to shane macgowan of the pogues. It's uncanny.

I think "endless stroke"'s analagy is really accurate
so to add to it:

This whole experience is definately a dream to him. He has sort of drfited into this situation and drifted out just as quicky, a dream can last only 15 minutes but it can include so much. Going out with a famous person would be an important part of his life, even though it happened so quickly and was over in a flash he will always remember, so much happened in such a shot period of time.
You get those days when everything feels fuzzy and surreal, like youre not really there (i get that feeling in winter when I'm warm and it's dark because i can't really understand whats going on, I'm all tired and even though it's 11 in the afternoon it feels like 8 in the evening I get it when I'm really drunk too, I'm sure everyone does). Everything is just a dream and you float through the day. I think that he feels like this, he can't really understand whats going on, So he's drifting through life, as if nothing is really happening.
Even the way he sings it interprets the mood of the song, he sounds drunk, tired and confused.

and to clear it up, i think that:
"The hateful things you think you want to say
Time will turn them into jokes"
means the tabloids, they say the worst things about the famous, even though they don't know them they think that they can just insult them unrelentlessly.
now that he is in the public eye for this "15 minutes" they're saying these things about him, but after the fame has passed when he has a normal life and looks back on this brief episode of his life, time will have turned the insults into jokes.

I love this song, it makes me feel dreamy, i like to feel dreamy
