The song, like many cannibal corpse songs, is written in the vein of a horror film. Granted, this song was not quite as good as the later material, but why the hell would you post on so many songs of a band you don't like? The lyrics are meant to be gorey and like that of a horror film, and to call them unskilled instrumentalists is a vast overstatment. While they possess less technical arrangements than other bands, they are still easily more technical than any fag band that gets played on the headbangers ball. And really, do you want less technical arrangements, or the same old shit you heard 500 times before? |

The vocal delivery, music, and some of the lyrics lead me to believe that the song is about someone that is so beaten down, they don't care about anything anymore |

The song seems to be about teenage mothers and the hardships they face emotionally and socially.
I would say the religious/social commentary comes around one of the chorus lines when Staley sings "Ain't no day the sun don't crack, you try and brand some name across my back as if you care, find someone to tell you.." I think that represents how teenage mothers and their children are often looked down upon in society and that (keep in mind MY interpretation) it's hypocritical that people don't seem to do this as much with teenage fathers. It also seems a little weird the teenage mother is looked down on, especially by the religious, but at the same time, her getting an abortion is supposedly wrong. For a Washington band, they remind me a lot of the south, where I'm from. Teenage pregnancy is a big issue down here. |
