Who ever thinks the song is about drug abuse is correct.The song writer Johnny Rzeznik is writing about a personal experience with one of his friends who suffered from heroin addiction.Johnny Rzeznik was interview a few years back and he told the audience the meaning of the song.Hope this clears things up for some people. |

i think it means that the person the song writer is talking about is dealing with depression(In your room you sleep all day so nothing gets to you..)and they are shutting the world out.The person writing is talking about how this life that the other person is living is'nt right.That they can't stand to see the other person go down this way and they're trying to get the other person to hold on.The addiction is a good guess
