Ok well im new here but I think im pretty good at deciphering lyrics… ive had something similar happen to me so this song makes a lot of sence to me “I spent most of last night dragging this lake for the corpses of all my past mistakes sell me out - the joke's on you we are salt - you are the wound” basicly hes spent a lot of time thinking about his past mistakes and how the guilt is weighing him down. the “sell me out…” part is about how the girl screwed him over and how hes saying the jokes on her and that she will regret it because he plans on getting revenge (we are salt – you are the wound) “empty another bottle and let me tear you to pieces this is me wishing you into the worst situations” he wants to break her down so badly for what she did to him and the only way she would be able to cope is to drink “I'm the kind of kid that can't let anything go BUT you wouldn't know a good thing if it came up and slit your throat" hes saying that he holds grudges BUT maybe hes starting to let go because she “wouldn't know a good thing if it came up and slit [her] throat” and is maybe realizing that it might not be entirely his fault “Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears rather ones that just don't care cause I know that you're in between arms somewhere next to heartbeats where you shouldn't dare sleep Now I'll teach you a lesson for keeping secrets from me” its telling how she tried to explain, said sorry and tried to get him to forgive her but he doesn’t care because he knows that she will be sleeping with someone else soon “Take your taste back peel back your skin and try to forget how it feels inside you should try saying no once in a while oh once in a while” I think here hes telling himself to forget the sadness and pain he feels inside and that he should try saying no once in a while (he could be telling himself no, as in to forget this and put it behind him or to tell her no that this isn’t right) “And did you hear the news? I could dissect you and gut you on this stage not as eloquent as I may have imagined but it will get the job done (you're done)” hes saying that he could spill everything and tell everyone what she did to him but he wouldn’t be able to express EVERYTHING he feels inside but it will get the job done “every line is plotted and designed to leave you standing on your bedroom window's ledge and everyone else that it hits that it gets to is nothing more than collateral damage” umm im kinda confused here but im guessing that hes planned out how to get his revenge but it will effect other people more than her and he mostly just wants to effect her |
