Also, two years later...
I'm pretty sure that this is reference to modern existentialism. I'm going to say that what one person said earlier about fate, and everything happens for a reason is completely wrong.
Basic existentialist philosophy states that the human being exists before essence, unlike a man made object. Man made objects exist in the essence of a concept. Sartre used the idea of a book or a paper-cutter. Paper cutter exists because man built it with the concept of a tool to cut paper... Man provides the essence to his life with the decisions he makes, and he is completely responsible for who he is and who he can be. He is also responsible for other people with each choice he makes. Whether he likes it or not, every decision he makes, and who he is, is projected. (Sartre used several examples, including but not limited to marriage)
SO.. "Like anywhere else there are no coincidences, probability makes for accomplices and change creates meaning." When we move, it's a movement.
When we move([when one]makes a choice for oneself), it's a movement.(one makes a choice for all) |

Ma'am,
do you have a chance?
Do your hopes stand the weight?
All we've got is each other
All I've got is this song.
There's not much more that I can say
There's not much more that we can do
Stay strong, keep the hope, keep the love.. that'll be enough
After so many years spent wondering
if there's one thing that I've found
it's that we've lost, but we always get the prize |

"Wake up, America. Weapons giveaway program. It's like one of those government programs. Just come and fuckin' get anything you want. We're gonna give away all the fuckin' automatic weapons. All the side-loaders, clip-loaders, shoot-em-backs... Saturday night specials... Colt. 45s, shotguns. Anything you want, chains, knives, straight razors... bottles, brick bats, baseball bats... and big kind of slanted jagged kind of things. I wanna see a goddamn big motherfuckin'... shoot 'em up, kill 'em, bang, stab 'em, crush... slice, kill, motherfuckin' boilin' oil. Catapults throwin' rocks and shit and blowin' up. Undercover shit, yeah. So I wanna see people putting secret things in fuckin' cars... and fuckin' explodin' and see the people explodin'. I wanna see knife cuttin', slice cuttin' choppin' and blowin' up. Oh, yeah. That's right. A free fuckin' weapons give away program. I see it. I'm gonna solve all these goddamn problems." |

Oh, good. It was the bassist who said both "faggoty temper tantrum sounding bullshit" and ripped people off? Because if I remember correctly, it was all in the same post on a vinyl forum...
I did have a hard time believing that someone could scream like THAT and then in the future not feel the same way. |

The sample comes from the 1991 film 'Slacker'.

He also ripped a couple people off on Hassan I Sabbah records. They paid and he never shipped is my understanding. Then he posted comments about how they deserved to be ripped off, and ended it all with "thanks for the free money."

I don't agree that hardcore wasn't very intellectual before Orchid.
Saetia talked about Greek and Roman mythology very accurately.
Rites of Spring referenced Slavic mythology very cleverly and accurately.
Etc. |

LOL. Fucking guitar hero. If this song was in Guitar Hero, you'd get the three red lights of death instantly.
Probably the best Usurp Song, by the way. |

YES. And when you manage to track down a copy of the discography, the first song you need to listen to is Bloody Hardhat. |

The second "clean"(ish) part, where he is repeating "I think of you, I think of me." makes me want to put something I just tore apart back together so I can tear it apart again during the next outburst. |

By the way they made it sound, I'm pretty sure they're also making fun of bands that people seem to think are "punk." Such as Blink 182 and Greenday. Hence the way they pop in and out of a typical pop-punk guitar riff. |

But anyway. To me, real Emo is mid-80's HarDCore, and other bands influenced by the HarDCore scene in that era. Literally the hardcore scene in DC. So you can say that it's pre-2001, but I say it's pre-1993. So I'll keep on listening to Rites of Spring, Minor Threat, Lungfish, Embrace, Ignition, Dag Nasty, Indian Summer, Moss Icon, Heroin, Mohinder and Angel Hair to name a fewww. |

I don't consider Saves The Day, Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc. Emo... because they're not. Think about it. Emo was punk. But instead of typical punk lyrics about politics and all sorts of other trivial stuff, they actually sang about their emotions. Nothing against typical punk or anything. But, put that in mind, and ask yourself how a band like Fall Out Boy(Who would have been in diapers during the Emo genre's lifespan(Which I consider 1984-1993). The genre died when Sunny Day Real Estate released an album...
Oh well, genres are all subjective. If you want bands that were actually inspired by real Emo, after the Emo days, check out Saetia, Orchid, Amanda Woodward(French), Raein, La Quiete, Neil Perry, You & I, Kite Flying Society, etc.
And finally, nothing you hear on the radio today is not Emo. Nothing you hear on the radio today is Screamo. |

Ever consider that perhaps the screaming is high pitched for a reason? I mean, it's quite obvious that the song is conveying some serious emotion, but if you really pay attention to Greek and Roman mythology, you'll understand it even more. I think the screaming is higher in pitch to represent a cry. Whether this was or wasn't Billy's intention, it's the way it comes across to me. To be able to switch pitch and style of scream from song to song requires some ridiculous talent, and Billy is the best screamer I have ever heard. Also, how can Hot Cross or Off Minor be better than Saetia? They kind of would not exist if it wasn't for Saetia. The same could be said about The Locust, Wolves, Ampere, Das Oath, etc. Without Orchid... they wouldn't have been. |
