Well this one is just way too easy. Smash is also most definately the best Offspring album and it is the only one i really like. This song describes the situation i've been in way too often. I think phoenix4 and a lot of the people who commented on this song are dumbasses, this song is simple and i know it well because i have written people off several times and thought about all the things i could say, but when he calls and i lose my nerve and i end up at his house in his bed. I know he's just fucking with me and i'm nothing to him, but i sometimes i really am dumb enough not to care about the abuse because there is something to him that is so attractive, not just they way he looks or his charming humor...sometimes i think it really is how much of a dick he is. I just happen to lack the self esteem to think deserve better. And ive stayed up all night waiting for him to pick me up when we have plans and suprise suprise half the time he doesnt show and is too drunk to even call, and yes his rejection lowers my selfesteem whereas ill say if he keeps it up ill tell so, but i know i really never will. Ive been in the situation and it basically could just be being manipulated by love or lust. So on and so forth. |

THis song really seems to be about addiction and watching someone killing themselves (or leaving someone behind to fufill selfish needs for drugs, maybe followed by an overdose-being held down by your "friends as in they keep you hooked by sharing the addiction?) or suicidal thoughts killing someone or...well really it seems to be most relevant to suicide..not sharing feelings and holding all the pain it could kill a person itself...but I really am not trying to deduct the meaning of this song and i never really have because of the sentimental value it holds to me. To me it represents my parents. My mother died when i was only four and it was partially my fathers fault for letting her drive drunk(she lost control at the wheel, she lost control enough to leave), and also considering she left because they were in a fight concerning my fathers lack of loyalty and now he must live in his everlasting guilt. He didnt mean to treat her so badly and beat her because he truly loved her, and now he regrets it more than anyone could regret doing something so horrible. Seeing as i dont need anyone involved in my shit or knowing anything about me i'll just leave it with a comment sharing the affect this song has to me as silly as it is. Point being: My father in the past 15 years has no so much as rarely mention my mothers name but when i played this song for him:
Father:You know why i cant' take listening to this song don't you?
Me lying: No

I agree with moterheadbanger, I think this version is much better than Alice Coopers(and that's saying something cause i happen to be a huge fan). ...This song reminds me of my dad...except for the fact that he's just a dick whereas this song is more along the lines of being walked all over for being too nice. Hahaha growing up my dad used to always say " No more mr. nice guy" when he was yelling at us...little did he know he was never very nice...he still says it...haha |

THis song really is amazing and this is what i get out of it: Many people do things that to others seem immoral or sinful, but really until you've been in their shoes and have had to make the choices they have in their situations, you really cannot pass judgement seeing as you really dont know what it is like. They criticize and belittle, but they may have done the same thing. Unless you know someone like a brother, or you are them, you cannot pass correct judgements so keep your fucking mouths shut basically. Blue Burn Orange is gettin the idea. - But it isn't always giving into temptation...sometimes you do what you have to do to survive whethere it is frowned upon or not. Societys views can't support familys or provide happiness or prevent the sorrow of a lifetime, it's your own responsibility to do what you have to despite the way people may look at you. People aren't always so vain that they rely on an image to make them happy...some people have priorities. And people dont always make the decisions that get them in fucked up situations, life just throws shit at people that they have to deal with, but so many people are spoiled bitches that they don't understand that shit. Some people are good honest people and are born it to families in which they have to do what they can to decide. You cant always chose your path in life completely, so many people have too much shit to take, when they never deserved it, but are still looked down upon...it's sick.

Just because someone has an abortion doesnt necessarily mean that they made a mistake, don't get me wrong, ive convinced someone not to have an abortion before, but only because it was for the wrong reasons that she was planning to do it. And i really don't hate the views of the writer because im not a cynical asshole and i agree completely, ...i happen to have close friends that may be junkies, or have had an abortion...or two..haha, and one that's a hooker...but they really arent bad people and they have the best intentions...they're just in some trouble and i would do anything to help them out, like any decent person would for someone who's in a fucked up situation, but they do what they can to get better and they are sweet people who would take a bullet for the people they love and who truly care about others. blah blah blah i guess i just felt like rambling. |

Of course this song and The Outsider are my favorite songs on this album and it really just seems like it's about overprotection...especially from parents not letting there kids see the world, leaving them ignorant from the rest of the world and keeping them in the dark about evidently loud issues. Assuming they'll be better off growing up without speaking their mind... making them afraid to speak their mind. With so much babying and whatnot they will lack the will to survive, they need to learn to survive themselves... They need to learn from their mistakes and with parents who keep them so isolated they won't be able to make mistakes. |

DUH it's just about cocaine... this song is a pretty good portrayl of using it...By the way, it is definately not about heroin, considering you dont really taste heroin/ it doesnt taste very good and no one who does it puts it in their mouth and if you do taste it its only from the drips of snorting it which would have to mean not shooting up thus that kids vein idea is completely blown, yet while using blow, everyone is always rubbin it on their lips and gums cause it makes em numb and shit AND you taste it from the drip. Also by saying tasting they could just mean trying it, not literally tasting it, and it is true for most that once you try coke your always wanting more...but when its there your so sick of it, yet when the bag is gone you always want more. |

From the time you're a child you're told not to do things because of the consequences, and so many people grow up fearing the consequences and do what they're told, but so many people get away with commiting an act without any consequences. Life will always be unfair, jerk offs will still be praised because it really is harder to catch a total asshole because they are so much more manipulative.
