The song IS pronces Familiar and the lyrics are all correct. Go buy her album "The Collection" if you dont believe me. The lyrics are in there as well as the title on the back.
This song is proving the age-old belief that girls find men who have traits like their father. The traits described are those in both her father and in the lovers she has had. She is saying that she wants a man just like her father, even though he displays poor character traits. |

This song is not "a wonderful Narcisistic rant" as genevieve313 seems to belive. Narcissistic means self absorbed, as in the greek origin of Narcissus, and this is clearly not a rant either. Eight easy steps is a self-critical analysis of all the negative aspects of Alanis' being. It has the quality that makes any insightful listener love it, in that it is pure and true to human nature itself...in her perspective. |
