| Taking Back Sunday – Number Five with a Bullet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with xxxdaniellexxx, I think the song's basically about two people in a friends with benefits relationship, he wants more, but she's unsure, she possibly does want something more, but is too scared and scarred from her past or something, like everytime he mentions it she wants to avoid the subject (just get dressed, don't do this), he possibly wants to end the whole thing because they won't go to the next level, but really can't therefore the saying (we're going to die like this you know, miserable and old), miserable because they have no real official status and old because they've been going with their old ways for so long... | |

| i agree with sodeepinstatic, but it can also be seen as a friend getting off a high or getting over depression, either way the moral is that she'll wait for them | |
| The Mars Volta – L'Via L'Viaquez Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| sorry i meant spain is a country in europe... | |
| The Mars Volta – L'Via L'Viaquez Lyrics | 19 years ago |

okay well first of all i speak spanish pretty fluently, and it's different when you understand the language and hear the song, most of it's metaphors that can't be translated literally. hence the saying "lost in translation". second of all, cedric from the mars volta is from mexico, spain is a continent in europe, they speak spanish there as well as in mexico. but people from mexico are not "spanish people" they are mexicans, only people from Spain are "spanish people". so when you talk about spanish people you're talking about Spainards, not mexicans or puertoricans...just cause england and the us share a common language you dont call people from london, americans. okay so basically the lyrics in spanish are talking about L'via- she's an infamous well-known murderer, who murdered the narrator's mother. L'Via, Miranda's daughter, you changed your last name, L'Via Your "harsh" eyes, A lifetime (history) without my mother, i only have to tell you of the pain that you say at night, I only have the dress that I washed the blood off of. L'Via, don't stop resting, in the street you walk, but who's going to follow you, L'Via, they want to kill you, teeth of a machete, head of a chicken, (means that she basically is hard-headed) L'Via, Sleeping peacefully, open your eyes, all will change, L'Via, Dreaming of vengeance, I swear to you, that you're going to pay [for what you did]. I only have an hour, and I have to awake, For 25 years have passed, [i] follow the bodies, I'm trembling here, I took the blood, I ate the body, My tears, they could break a mirror. In my perspective it's basically him looking for revenge, because L'Via killed his mother |

| Brand New – Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is basically about a kid who's either losing his virginity or just having sex with a girl he likes or his girlfriend, basically she's just in it for pleasure while he actually has more intense feelings for her, the thing is he feels sick while having sex with her meanwhile he could have probably just said no, but peer pressure or the media or whatever has such an effect on him (Despite everything he learned from his friends, he doesn't feel so prepared) he just continues sleeping with her. if you watch the music video it has a similar meaning- basically he walks into a bar and every motion that he does everyone else does, he controls a guy to touch a girl's lips and gets a girl to almost take off her top while he touches himself in a lustful way while on the wall, in the end you see a man although he's silouetted in the dark controlling the guy. this can stand for the media or society's pressure on young men and woman to have sex. i also think brand new sheds light on how guys can also feel emotions with sex and not just think of sex as well...sex. the kid in the song is so hurt that she only wanted sex and nothing else, showing that even though us girls always think guys are just in it for "ass" some of them don't only want that. brand new also advises the kid in the song to "die young and save yourself!" advising that he'll only live a life full of failed relationships. This doesn't mean they advise suicide, it's only metaphoric so none of you "emo" 13 year olds take the lyrics seriously... | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Twenty-Twenty Surgery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| okay first of all not all of TBS's songs are about suicide, or infidelity, or about breakups...you need to stop over analyzing their songs and just listen and think of what comes to your mind first...yea they have underlying meanings but the main point of the song you can usually grasp with two or three listens...and not every song has a connotation to God...not that I have anything against God, I'm a Christian, but just because their name includes Sunday in the title does not have any relevance to religion all the time. | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Miami Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think this song is definitely about him trying to convince a new love how he's changed. i.e he supposedly cheated on michelle nolan from straylight run | |
| Taking Back Sunday – My Blue Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i basically agree with what hplssrmantcxox says... he's basically talking about how he wants this girl but she's always with someone else, they both have feelings for each other, and either she keeps on getting hurt by these other men but never really realizes his potential, while he's trying to convince her that he's the one she can confide in (you're safe child, you are safe). this isn't about getting a girl knocked up or having sex with the girl. i think dull heat rises from the sheets is the connotation between the girl and her affairs with her previous boring lovers...he seems like he's waiting for her (i'm both a patient boy and a jealous man) but can't stand it when he sees her with other men. The line "It's you I can't deny" is probably in reference to his response to how others see his relationship with her. His friends who see how enthralled he is with her probably tell him to give up, meanwhile he can't, he's too obsessed and has this glimmer of hope that he'll be with her one day. "Two sides twist and then collide...All the cards begin to stack up- basically relates to how one day no matter what we all have that collision with love/lust and how our emotions change and act once we've found that someone. In the first verse he says "You're calling off the guards, I'm coming through" this could be translated as the girl having these "meaningless" relationships with these guys because she's scared of the real thing. In the end, I think they eventually end up together, call me a romantic. |
