I LOVE this song. Now that that is out of the way... I do agree with the thought that this is most likely about someone who must now watch a former girlfriend whom he still loves go out with someone new. However, after sadly thousands of time hearing this song, i have a small new idea: This also sounds like someone thinking about a girl he cheated with, and had broken it off. He admits that he still loves her, and that he tries to make her happy, something her real bf/ husband doesnt. "maybe he won't find out what i know-You were the last good thing about this part of town" can be him musing over how the husband/bf might never realize that she is the love of the singer and the relationship they have/had. Just a thought. Seems kinda funny how many people can relate so closely to this song. However, isn't that the mark of a great song? Oh well, i still heart FOB, and patrick's solo in the beginning makes the song. P.S.- Sorry if someone else has already written this interpretation...5 pages of comments were a bit too many for me to look through and i wanted to get this down! |
