Switchfoot – Love Is The Movement Lyrics 18 years ago
the song is straight forward. jon tells us that love is the movement. our kindness, our words, our love for other people is a beautiful movement. but some of us arent moving. we're stuck and afraid. when love is a big movement in the world, then it will be a revolution leading to redemption by many people. thats the beauty of love. on the other hand we can never fully grasp how great God's love is, its a rehearsal. love is a movement thats bigger than religion. its a hard song to understand; but it is such an amaing song jon has written.

again, a band cant be saved. songs can be interpreted in many ways, and i think that matt wrote this song about a girl. but its open for interpretation. besides when writing music you have to be careful when you use God's name. even it is meant to be good, it could unintentionally be using His name in vain. so i dont think one should be too quick to relate some songs to God. cause it is a dangerous way to think.

just because relient k have Christian members in them doesnt make them a "Christian" band. a band cant be saved. making it not Christian. and this is what they want happening. thats why they dont call themselves Christian genre. cause that will limit what they write. just because the members are Christians does not limit them from writing about a girl. in fact its not bad at all to write about a girl. its just he context of it that could be bad, but this song is open for interpretation. i think it has to do with a girl. enjoy. its my favorite song from their album right now so yeah :]

Switchfoot – The Shadow Proves The Sunshine Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this switchfoot song should be the most popular song that they have. haha. oh and its "crooked souls" plural not singular "soul". that phrase was taken from Ecclesiastes. aside from all that, you cant call switchfoot, casting crowns, relient k, anberlin, chris tomlin, mae, starfield, etc.. you cant call them christian music for one very important reason.

music cannot be saved. its something jon quoted, telling people that it isnt their desire to be labeled as a christian band cause that will limit what they can write. cause once you're labeled christian people will expect you to use the word Jesus or God in the song, or they will expect the song to be spiritual. and another reason is that they have to be careful with where they put Christ's name in their songs cause they could unintentionally use God's name in vain, which is what they want to do. so dont be so quick to judge music. it cant save and it cant be saved. music is what switchfoot does and Christ is why they do it.

enjoy ^_^

ps. - oh i see where you got the "soul" sigualr thing and yeah you were right but still dont be to quick to judge music. the song was written in while they were in africa.

correction:

"its not the lies that you sing,
but what the silence screams"
(3x)

makes alot more sense and its the correct lyrics anyways.

yeah i agree with that, but then again i have my interpretations and beliefs. yeah but also as a christian i should choose wut i listen to carefully, so at times it is important to know the background of a band or artist. thats just me, because anyone one band can drag me into a whole new dimension of music that might not be healthy for me. so im just limitting myself. as for me i believe they are christian and thats a reason to listne to them, aside to their great lyrics and music. haha

Relient K – Forgiven Lyrics 19 years ago
ok ok too much arguing. haha. they used the word damned to emphasize how we are so truly condemned. as apposed to just using condemned. its emphasis on how we can be forgiven and saved even though we are all damned to go to hell. its as simple as that. no bad language in that. some people just need to mature and just seriously grow up about stuff like "OH THE BIBLE USED THE WORD ASS" when it is used as a donkey's name. same with damn. thats all

Switchfoot – Amateur Lovers Lyrics 19 years ago
there are always people that will listen to a song for so much more than how it sounds. yes sound its important but not as nearly as important as the message. as for some bad as in (evil song) the message is important in that it isnt good and we shouldnt listen to that stuff. as to a good song with an amazing message i could listen to that song all day even if it had the worst sound in the world. i could careless about how it sounds as to what it talks about. maybe you dont see how it relates to God's love because your not fulling grasping the meaning or you have your own interpretation. but i dont criticize you for any of that, its your belief and i'll respect that.

again, you cant say that our interpretations and beliefs are wrong. its just going deeper into meaning and trying to learn about the song. and yeah im pretty sure u know they are Christians but maybe if you're a christian yourself you should kind of like try to understand that there is more meaning, even in a small phrase like "i wanna wake up kicking and screaming" you can connect this song to many different aspects of christianity which i wont go in cause it'll take a long time. check out rob bell's new video called "breathe" its a great video. check that out at Nooma.com

Switchfoot – Yesterdays Lyrics 19 years ago
what i get from this is that yeah there has been a death, but as there will be ppl who will weep over that person that has passed away they know that they are free. i believe that when Jon says free, he could have implied that that person was saved and now is living in freedom with God in his kingdom. and when Jon says "And until I’m with you, I’ll carry on" i think he implies that until he dies and meets the person in God's kingdom he will carry on with his life till that day comes.

songs have much deeper meaning then the words it say. and does it like kill you to like not criticize other ppl's beliefs? haha. i totally respect your point of view from the other comments you've made. but yeah their songs songs can definitely be tied with the Bible. just because the doesnt have the word "God" in it doesnt mean it cant relate to that. and you cant say how i interpreted is wrong. its just an interpretation. no need for eyerolling. its awesome that you like switchfoot as well but just try to like understand it from another's point of view sometimes. maybe it change the way u think of the song or maybe it wont but it doesnt hurt to try.

Switchfoot – Amateur Lovers Lyrics 19 years ago
well, you cant say that it cant be about god's love and Christianity. after all the band members are Christians so what they write comes from their beliefs. if their lyrics are true then who are the professionals? if we're amateur lovers that means there has to be someone that knows true love. to me that one person is God and we we can only learn that through him.

i honestly think this song is amazing in its msg and sound. sadly i believe ppl look for the sound of the song to decide whether or not they'll like it or not. like songs like awakening and like amateur lovers. i know i did the same. but there is so much more to a song. i think this is part of the song. "its gets so loud" compared to how a song can sound soo "cool" and the "little words cant slip out" compared to the msg of the song cant be found because we focus to much on the sound of the song. but aside from that the song talks about how our mouth is one of our most powerful weapons and our enemy at time. we can use our mouth to put someone down so badly its almost like killing them. The Bible says we must tell others of God's Truth, how He sent His only Son to die for our sins, and also says that we must use our mouth for goodness, not for putting ppl down, cursing, and other just wicked things. show love towards one another. dont let your mouth be used as a weapon.

switchfoot revolves around God, thats why they make this music period. haha. the song is about materialism in the shortest terms possible.

first of all, it shouldnt be the sound of the song that u should worry about, its the msg u get from it. for Bredders, this song is pretty much straight forward honesty. we dont know what love is and we do it again. as in we do what we think love is as apposed to Truth, God's love is real love, there is a bit of sarcasm in this song when he says lets go it again, meaning our community is literally so stupid and we do it again. we're just amateur lovers with amateur friends. if u need me to go into depth a bit more just comment here again.

actually this song can be tied to wut dude8001 said, cuz again its materialism. if compared to the war in iraq, its also about the oil we can get from them, instead of how much we would rather show love and compassion to another country. its because our country wants revenge and materialism, that we cant show them love instead of hatred, materialism takes our eyes off of how we need to love others as God loved us. and that we should also forgive one another. but yes both your interpretations are correct. we just need to think more deeply into the context of the msg.

Switchfoot – Faust, Midas, and Myself Lyrics 19 years ago
yeah it can be interpreted in a few ways. cuz Jon could hae also meant that he has one life left to leave, as in the old man and putting on the new man, born in Christ. so yeah i dont argue with the leave and lead part of the lyrics, i did listen to it again and you were right. haha thanks.

Switchfoot – Awakening Lyrics 19 years ago
actually, i believe when jon writes "i wanna wake up kicking and screaming" i believe he means that he wants to be born again into a new life as said in the Bible. being in reborn into the kingdom of God. however this is what i think of the song. i may totally be wrong but we all have our ways of interpreting songs. so yeah. being born again. he wants to know that his heart will keep beating instead of dieing in this sinful world. i love this song

yeah i am familiar with the stories. but the lyrics on this site are actually wrong compared to the ones on the actual switchfoot site. its still "one life left to lead". but then again those lyrics mite be wrong too. so i dunno. i believe the song talks about what our life is and what it should be in a short explanation. but the song goes into alot depth compared to my little explanation. it still is pretty much self explanatory, to me, so dont get me wrong or anything.

that could possibly be an aspect of the message yeah. as well as how ppl are in a community of desperation and pain as said in the song. also falling skies as maybe in as stated in oh gravity how we cant keep seem to keep it together meaning a falling society. again this is wut i think of it. but wut you said is true tho. we're awakening, as in we're probably finally seeing truth. :]

honestly, this is one of the best sounding song on their new album; but i havent grasped the full message of this song yet. but possibly it means something like we are breaking out of our own little life and realizing that there is more, that there is hope, that there is love and that there is God. im continuingly listening to this song to figure it out but as for now that is wut i get from these lyrics.

Switchfoot – 4:12 Lyrics 19 years ago
wut i take from this song:
we are so caught up in the economy of materialism and it ruins us. we want so much when there is soo much more outside the realm of materialism. our souls will ultimately pay the price of being materialistic. God has provided a way for all. and we need to realize that there is a greater reward when we love others, when we help others, when we listen to God, when we live by faith. trully amazing song

that was an awesome explanation. love this song. it defines everyone in this life. we all put Jesus on that cross and we deserve eternity in hell; but Jesus rose from the dead and forgave us and also provided a way to escape eternity in hell.

well, honestly, paramore, to me i think they are christians. but i could definately be wrong. this isnt the only song that has God working in it. hallelujah and pressure also could be considered slightly something like this song. i believe that paramore are christian by faith and not by genre as said by switchfoot. and also music is what they do and God is why they do it also from switchfoot. there is a really good chance that hey are christians, but at the same time possibly not.
