this is one of my favourites, lyrically...but I never thought 'prostitutes' at ALL, or nuns, for that matter. I never thought it was about anything other than about him comming out of depression.....telling us that if we have hope, the "sisters of mercy" which i thought was metaphorical will finaly find us and give us the love and luck that we need to keep on. I was sort of dissapointed when i read what it was really about, even though its still really sweet. I thought it was a very hopeful song and it makes me feel like everything will be alright. |

this is my favourite lauryn hill song along with 'turn your lights down low'...and yes, I believe she's talking TO God but not about him/her...She's praying to god to give her strength with her unrequited love and for God to let this man know somehow that she loves him and to give her a chance because she can't go on much longer without him |

This is my absoloute favourite song, period....and that's precisely why I skip over it on the CD. It's such a nostalgic song that stirs something up when i listen to it so thats why I try not to too frequently...because then it will become just another great song that doesn't do anything for me...does anyone else feel like that? A need to perserve you favourite songs for the way they make you feel?..Anyway, i dont think the meaning is something we can interperet collectively..but rather, its like a collage or ideas put together so that it doesnt make sense as a whole ...only bit by bit |

i've read somewhere that this is supposedly the best song of the 90's, period. I find this very perplexing because it isn't as unique as alot of their songs, cant be compared to many of the most beautiful songs of the 90's and personaly, it doesn't do anything for me..."teardrop", however, is an amazing song...it stirs something in most people who listen to it |

that french translation is way off...i dont have the time to translate it my self but i love when deb sings in french...although she butchers certain words like "dans" and "autre". I have an idea what this song is about...a wholesome young girl who is going out with a boy who uses her as just another girl to date since she isn't willing to go against her parents' wishes and see him on a daily basis, she's the sunday girl in this case. |

it does not mean "absoloutely nothing"...I interperate it as a song for someone who is experiencing unrequited love and cannot do anything about it...perhaps part of the reason is that the person lives very far away. The narrator is perhaps a friend or a loved one back at home who is trying to make the person in question feel better about their situation...they're going to try to "fix" their friend |
