| Youth Group – Forever Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |

what are you talking about? "this song would be ruined"? the only reason this song exists is because of the OC, the only reason you've even heard of this band is because of the OC. Schwartz commisioned Youth Group to make the cover (which is much better than the original) themselves. After being featured on the show, YG got record deals which is why you've even heard of em. Kthanksbye. |

WOW AREN'T YOU SMART! You know Lincoln banned slavery! Impressive. ...not. I'm pretty sure Nas knows that. You guys are so fucking serious on this site. Seriously. LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP AND BE HAPPY THAT THIS SONG IS NOW TRUE. This is intended to capture the moment and everything the black race is feeling right now, not conform to your ridiculous history textbooks. By the way, to think that black oppression ended as soon as slavery was abolished is an extremely naive way of looking at things. Learn history. Learn how people were shot for sitting in restaurants or the back of the bus. Learn how the rulers of the country never did anything about it. Learn to enjoy this amazing song. Maybe you should think before you comment. |

| Eminem – Say Goodbye Hollywood Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ironically, this song was played at the end of Alpha Dog -- a movie based on the life of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who ended up in jail for 1st degree murder and kidnapping. While I doubt Eminem would ever sing about someone other than himself/his wife/his kid, that would be an interesting take. Goodbye Hollywood, you screwed your life up monumentally. You're finished. | |
| Nada Surf – Popular Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| adding on to my previous comment, the beginning basically shows how teenagers treat dating like a life and death matter. plays into the whole satirical nature of this song. | |

The beginning of this song seems to be missing. To anyone who's interested, here it is: [Two girls talking over one another:] There comes a time in every girl's life when she's really got to ask herself: "Is she ready to be going steady?" There comes a time where she's got to ask herself: "Steady or not? Do you really want to be Johnny's steady?" Well, first of all, let's see if dating this one boy Johnny... That beginning is pretty important, shows the typical high school chick conversation. |

This song has a religious undertone, obviously, but it is secular enough to address "angels" in a direct, personal, sort-of way. I feel like the guy just lost someone he loved, and now the person is an angel in heaven ("on your cloud"), who he "miss[es] dearly". He's taking it "day by day, through the years", but he's still "been kneeling and praying" that the person will come back down. He needs the angel to be with him, "near to the ground". |

| Wheatus – Lemonade Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song...however awkward it is, it needs to be, because life is awkward and random like this. You can tell the guy is really hurt by the break-up and he has very genuine, very HUMAN thoughts. C'mon, when your girlfriend is cheating on you - you don't think "I guess she needs space from me...", you think "Is his dick bigger than mine?" And you can tell that his future ("eighty on the porch..with you") with the girl all came crashing down, when she tells him the truth. And now he has nothing to live for ("the end is near"). It's a funny/sad song at once. A bit whimsical. Very Wheatus. |

| Billy Joel – Vienna Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is the first song that ever made me cry. It sounds like it was written for someone who is living like a robot. Before they hit their breaking point and cave in with all the stress, this reminds them what life is supposed to be - carefree. For some reason, though, I kept imagining Vienna as a person. Sort of like the lady in LOTR who helped Frodo out when all seemed doomed after Gandalf "died". |

| Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| So simple yet so powerful. I actually hated that they used this song in Closer. Such a superficial movie and Damien Rice is so pure and emotional. | |

| Eric Clapton – My Father's Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| so this song is about the importance of a father, i'm guessing. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is great because of the brilliant guitar solo's, not so much the lyrics - even though his voice is amazing. Though the title suggests it to be a dirty song (caliFORNICATION), it wasn't too bad. But it is a great insight into the world of the rich and slightly disturbed. | |
