| John Denver – Sweet Surrender Lyrics

though i am not aware of the timeline on which this song was written, i would imagine it was during a tough part of john's life because there was a time in his life where he admitted he was searching pretty high and pretty low for happiness, peace, and understanding. or at least in my mind, this song was written during a tough time, which makes it even more beautiful that he sweetly surrendered himself in order to "live, live without care" because his life was indeed "worth living" and he didn't need to see the future or the end to know that life was worth it. |

for me, this song is about how despite our faults and bad decisions as human beings, mother nature will still be there to greet us with the warmth and love of her sun. for me, it also describes my relationship with God. no matter how far i may stray, He's always waiting for me to come home. |

| Band of Horses – No One's Gonna Love You Lyrics

this song is very beautiful, but i don't think i would play at a wedding because despite the narrator loving the object of his affection more than anyone ever will, it seems like their love is "splitting at the seams" and "tumbling down." |

this song always kills me because you really can feel the pain he's feeling.
my question is, how do you interpret the "Jesus Christ" and the "you"? is the you referring to JC? or when he says "Jesus Christ" is it just a phrase and the "you" is a specific someone? i think he's referring to Jesus, but one of my friends thinks differently and we came to the agreement that it could mean different things for different people. |

| Owen – Bad News Lyrics

this song makes me feel better about myself in a "okay, you know your problem so now go do better."
this part gets me the most:
"You don't mean anything to anyone but me.
And even I think that you're blinded by conceit"
i think the song is about himself and realizing that all the things he thought that mattered (his style, being in touring bands, etc.) don't matter at the end of the day. it's about not trying hard to be 'someone' and just being yourself. |

i haven't listened to this song in years, but my thoughts on it haven't changed. i listened to it today and it is still as heartwrenching and meaningful.
i think the meaning is a little more simple than what previous people have posted. i believe it's about running into an old friend who is too embarassed to see you because of their new lifestyle or whatever the reason for your falling out was (though it could be just not seeing each other or talking for awhile). either way, they have new friends who you know don't really care about them, but you still care about them and can see through them like before. |

| Kind of Like Spitting – We Got As Far As Minnesota Lyrics
| 19 years ago

the idea i got from the song is about a girl who gave up everything for the narrator, a girl who still lived for a cheesy teenage ideology of love. maybe the narrator believed in that ideology too until he realized it was so much harder than surviving a car that might break down at any minute or people who followed them in stores because of their appearances, that to make things work there had to be more than makeout sessions under the stars and second looks. she gave up everything for him and now he is giving up on them. |

i agree with homerfaccee, but this song is definitely one of my favorites because my friends and i sing it at random all the time.
i do, however, love the dream and flying references. |

ben is incredibly passionate and even though i haven't really ever thought about what this song could possibly mean, if anything, this song is incredible from the break-beats to the lyrics to ben's voice. |

this is definitely one of my favorite lupe songs, i can't believe i am the first comment. this is real. my favorite part is about the jay-z boycott because i can definitely relate to it. i love hip hop so much even though most of it goes against the teachings of my faith which makes me feel so uncomfortable. but i keep listening. |
