Paramore – Crushcrushcrush Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm generally not a fan of Paramore or even of this type of music, but something about this song is compelling! Lyrically more complex and meaningful than songs of this genre (that appeals to teens, generally) usually is.

I think it's about two people who are perhaps in opposing social circles or something of the nature. Perhaps even enemies.

One (narrator) fancies someone, whose actions are ambivalent and difficult to figure out, and is essentially telling him/her that they want a chance. That chance, however, appears to be hindered by the friends/other influences on the other person, hence, "they taped over your mouth" (not allowing the other person to speak for himself), "scribbled out the truth with their lies," (the friends/other influences are feeding the person the narrator is speaking to lies about said narrator, poisoning him/her against them), "you/your little spies," (self-explanatory; the other group inherently distrusts the narrator and would certainly be against anything more than enmity between the narrator and someone from their own ranks).

The "quiet evening alone" the narrator desires is saying that if they had time to get to know one another, all outside influences and prejudices not-present, they would be able to be friends and perhaps more. But in the end, the social division is still too great, so the narrator resigns him/herself to pretending and imagination.

At the end of the song, it's not clear if it's the said imagination or if it's reality, but "rock and roll, baby / don't you know that we're all alone now?" Is the narrator saying that they're alone and there's indeed a chance to get to know each other.

Just a note, not really on the subject of the song: There is a difference between singer/writer (in this case, I gather her name is Hayley) and the narrator of the song; the writer may in fact be the narrator, but that's not always the case, which is why I repeatedly refer to the first-person point of view in the song as narrator, not Hayley or the singer.

Rush – Time Stand Still Lyrics 19 years ago
This song. Is my absolute favourite song. Rush or any other band. Aside from being a BASS! song, the vocals and all instruments seem to blend perfectly for a sound that just takes me to another place.
I fell in love with it about 11 years ago, an older friend played part of the bass for me, and it's been my favourite ever since.
I believe, as others have said, that it's about holding on to what you have, and how you can't stop the passing of time. How sometimes, you just wish that things would slow the hell down and you could look a little deeper at it.

I also see it, as something very deep to me, as being about realizing you're falling in love with someone. How you never want that moment to end, and how time really seems to stand still, or how you wish it was. How you wish so desperately that you could escape to somewhere where the craziness and change of everyday life doesn't exist, where you can concentrate on pure sensation and nothing else exists. Of course, that's a personal spin and I know it wasn't the intended meaning.
Just my two cents.
