It is easy to take anything for granted if you believe it'll be there no matter what. The first time I heard this song years and years ago, I knew this was the type of person I wanted to be. One who never went to bed angry and the one who said "i love you" all the time. I took that into a 4 year relationship. However I forgot one thing. You have to share every emotion you feel. She started talking to the only guy i ever feared losing her to. I was so jealous, but i never showed jealousy. Turns out, 11 weeks after she officially left, that was the one thing that might've kept her here. I could tell her all day that I loved her. But I guess I didn't act like i did. |

I don't think this song has anything to do with abortion. However, while it has some suicidal refrences and influence, i don't believe its the focus. My point is this, If you are going to go that route, you never look at it. You never want to see it coming. Suicide in itself is the "coward's way out". So, "looking down the barrel of a .45" to me isn't a suicidal reference. I believe he means that there may be NO way to get back to before he felt that way. The .45 represents the finality of that. "Send a message to the unborn child" He could be talking about his own child, but I think he's talking about himself. Maybe something to the effect of if he had that"piece of the puzzle" he'd have done things differently, but as it was, he was blinded to that "box high up on the shelf" "Swimming through the ashes of another life" I firmly believe he is referencing his life before whatever happened happened. Things have changed so muc for this individual that he seems like it is a whole other life. This is just my humble opinion. I know this feeling very well... |
