The difference between me and a lot of drones who commented on this song is that they tolerate "good" racism. I don't tolerate ANY kind of racism. You're just as racist as David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan. |

@[drewplaysrock:48015] Slayer has never been the kind of band to play it "safe". They've always been controversial. It would be completely out of character for them, |

| Son Volt – Route Lyrics

The actual lyric is "Mother road remains/It provides no more/It can only take us away". Most if not all online lyric sites get this wrong. The mother road is of course US Highway 66 ("Route" 66). It is no longer an important route that we rely on, it is only useful for recreational purposes like vacations or holidays. This is a brilliant lyric that ties into the title of the song and makes much more sense than "Another road remains..." |

| R.E.M. – Burning Hell Lyrics

This song is R.E.M. poking fun at the cheezy heavy metal that was so popular in the 1980s. They proved how great they are by purposely trying to write a bad song and writing a really good song on accident. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Soma Lyrics

One possible meaning of "soma" (there are likely several meanings related to this song) is that a soma is a biological term for an organism with no germs. Billy is a soma, while the girl in the song is the germs that kept Billy from being a soma. |

Prozac is NOTHING like the mythical soma. The mythical soma in BNW shares more in common with ecstasy (MDMA) and cannabis than Prozac. Prozac doesn't "make you happy", rather it (sometimes) takes the edge off the sadness. Then it suddenly stops working and you have to find a new SSRI. Hardly a "perfect drug". |

Much like Haggard's "Okie from Muskogee" this song is satire. It is poking fun at the jingoistic, "patrotic" person who thinks opposition to war amounts to treason. |

This song is about not overanalyzing things and thinking too much and going with what you feel is correct rather than what your brain says is correct. |

It's about the government. "Swayin' to the rhythm of the New World Order?" C'mon. What does the NWO have to do with drugs or religion? Some APC songs are riddles, but this one is simple and straightforward. |

He wrote a song about Imodium because he had a stomach disease and it affected him greatly. There's also a line in "Pennyroyal Tea" about antacids and laxatives. His disease was a major part of his life and he derived inspiration from it. |

| Pearl Jam – Cropduster Lyrics

The first verse is about the cycle of life. Pretty straightforward. The line "Everyone is practicing" refers to religion, as most of the world practices religion. The line "But this world's an accident" refers to the fact that religion is false and that everything got here by natural means and not by creation. The line "I was the fool because I thought I thought the world, turns out the world thought me" is written from the perspective of a deity. "I thought I made the world, turns out the world made me" to paraphrase. "Daddy's gone up in flames" refers to the loss of a belief in a deity, while "when the big lie hits your eye" refers to the epiphany of realizing that everything you were taught about religion was a lie. Basically, this song is about the loss of faith. |
