I always thought of this song and pt. 2 as a small two-part drama that the band wrote, where one person in a group of really tight friends commits suicide, and knowing some of them would, he told them not to follow him. Then part 2 is the hateful yet mournful aftershocks of his death from the other friends. He's gone and they hate him for it. I also like how they took the little harmonized riff from pt 1 and "eviled" it up a lil bit by taking a couple of the notes and dropping them a half-step. Awesome. Working on learning then piano intro and solo. |
