The Goo Goo Dolls – Broadway Lyrics

Always saw this as a song about alcoholism; how the narrator's father was an alcoholic, and he's suffering from it as well...that's just me, though. |

Seems to be a song attacking religion to me...quickly became one of my favorite Cure tunes when I first heard it on the album. |

U2 – Kite Lyrics

I read that Bono was inspired to write the lyrics after flying kites with his children, hence the title. However, since I over-analyze just about everything, I think it's about realizing that, sooner or later, someone (possibly your children) will no longer need you. As well, I believe Bono's comparing this relationship to his complicated and difficult relationship with his father. |

U2 – No Line On The Horizon Lyrics

I'm an Atheist (raised Catholic) and as far as I know and have read, Bono doesn't consider himself to be any "exact faith", so to speak. Though I'm guessing his religious beliefs come from being raised Catholic and his stint as a Born Again during the October days. |

Perhaps he means that love is the best thing to come from evolution? That's how I always took it. |

I think this song is about internal conflcit one is facing -- whether it be a personal and emotional ordeal or whatever. I prefer Lowe's version, honestly, as much as I love Cash... |

Hurricane Chris – A Bay Bay Lyrics

Without a doubt, the most annoying and inane piece of music ever written. Anyone who likes it must be as retarded as the idiot who performs it. |

A fantastic song, definitely one of my very favorite U2 songs. Always gets me in a good mood, the whole song is great...the lyrics, the vocal, everything. I love the whole "I remember when we could sleep on stones..." verse, some awesome lyrics there. |

Probably the most pointless U2 song ever. I'm tempted to skip it almost every time I listen to TUF...but I will admit, it is pretty peaceful. |

U2 – Numb Lyrics

According to what I read in U2 By U2, The Edge says this is, basically, about his feelings at that period of time - going through a divorce and all. Either way, in my opinion, it's one of U2's worst songs....I can't stand it. Awful song. |

To me, this is about Bono's relationships with his kids and his father; one day, his kids will no longer "need him" and he's relating this with his difficult relationship with his father. |

James Blunt – Goodbye My Lover Lyrics
|
According the what I've heard, the song is based upon something that actually happened to James Blunt. I heard that the entire song chronicles an intense relationship he had with woman. They dated and then broke up, and then got back together and everything was going well...he got her pregnant, and things were getting even better for the two. Then, sadly, both the woman and the infant died during childbirth. I'm not sure if that's true but reading the lyrics, it sounds like the story can hold some water. Either way, a beatiful song, without a doubt. |

U2 – Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses Lyrics

To me, the song is about letting go of somebody that you don't want to let go of, that you had an intense, important relationship with, albeit a difficult one. But that's just me... |

Dave Matthews Band – Bartender Lyrics

Dave Matthews has said this is an "Agnostic song about God"; from Matthews himself, he says the song is about somebody seeking redemption and forgiveness in a bar where God is the bartender. |

Scissor Sisters – Land of a Thousand Words Lyrics

I agree with katra, in a way. I think it's a story of two people who are interested in eachother but some things are in the way - ambition, distance, "playing hard to get". Great song, I love the vocals by Jake and Ana...fantastic. |
