| Rufus Wainwright – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I've been in love with this song for so long that my second tattoo was the lines "and every breath we drew was hallelujah" in the center of my back. F'cking gorgeous song. |
| Fireflight – The Hunger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This was such a good song before I found it out was about God. Blah. |
| Sister Hazel – Champagne High Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| "So high, you left me undone." Fucking beautiful, man. Makes me think of my ex-girlfriend. | |
| Rob Thomas – Her Diamonds Lyrics | 16 years ago |
My boyfriend told me to listen to this song because it's how he feels about my battle with anorexia nervosa. It's obviously about physical illness, but I don't think about dying. Regardless, I cry every time I hear it. |

| All Time Low – Remembering Sunday Lyrics | 17 years ago |
See, the way I was thinking about it was that they'd been in love and randomly got smashed one night at a party and had sex (She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin/She led him upstairs/Left him dying to get in), but from that she got pregnant. She couldn't handle it, and killed herself and the baby in one fell swoop. Which is why she's so apologetic and in the clouds, as well as "over him" (which I took literally). Just one more spin on it. |
| Chris Daughtry – Crashed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I really don't think this is about God. "Like a runaway train, you will consume me, but I can't walk away"? "And then I crashed into you, And I went up in flames. Could've been the death of me" ? I don't see God in there. I see it as finding someone who helped him get out of a really, really bad situation (drug abuse? violence?), and while he resisted the change initially, now he sees that without it, he'd be nowhere. | |
| Anberlin – Naive Orleans Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"& I finally found that life goes on without you And my world still turns when you're not around" So powerful. Never thought I'd be where I am, and it's definitely a *finally* finding this out. |
| Rihanna – Take a Bow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Self-explanatory. "Baby, when I know you're only sorry you got caught" So catchy. I love it. |
| Mayday Parade – When I Get Home You're So Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Consider this as a gift as you taste him on your lips And he's making you scream with his hands on your hips I hope he's leaving you empty, baby This is just a fix for such a simple little whore ^ i use that stanza as a quiet attack on myspace and aim profiles against the girl who's trying to cling to the guy i love. their phrasing is just flipping amazing. |
| Mayday Parade – Just Say You're Not Into It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
such a beautiful song. i love lyrics that aren't long and drifty in saying so much. nicely concise. gorgeous. |
| Blink-182 – Roller Coaster Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, he's talking about an affair, not a relationship. Roller coaster is all about the ways he's wishing he was hers, but he can't be because she's got a boyfriend. They're hiding a relationship that has its ups and downs like any other, but because it's not official they have to be underground and thus the ups and downs are that much more dramatic. I'm slightly obsessed, no worries. |

| Anberlin – Audrey, Start The Revolution! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is the song for me and my secret love. We're in love, very plainly so, but can't be together because we both need to have the significant others we have in order to keep the peace between our social groups, and this is the only thing that I've got of his that's totally mine. There are so many quotes we use back and forth as little double entendres to show that we still love each other: You’d know the truth if these walls could sing. Time is of essence like your kiss. So say you’re in With cards down and guns drawn; this is it! We’re all here; you’re not the only one. and very obviously the chorus. Such a good song. iTunes says I've played it over a thousand times, and I still repeat it for hours on end. |

| Anberlin – A Day Late Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Song for me and a fling. I had a boyfriend, and the boy I wanted asked me just after I got together with this other boy, and thus he became my "Day Late Friend." We both had s/o's, and.. yeah. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – The Mixed Tape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm hearing mitch. I don't know. Then again, I'd listened to the song 233x (according to iTunes) before I even picked up on that, so I can't be too reliable XP This is a song towards me and my on again-off again affair. It's gone back and forth so many times, we've both fucked each other over, but in the end neither of us can get over the other, so it's kind of hopeless. Where are you now? makes me ask myself which point he's at now, loving me or telling his girlfriend all I'm saying to him. And you said you meant it There's a piece of me in Every single second of every single day But if it’s true to tell me how we got this way Those lines say a whole lot to me. He always used to tell me that he meant it when he said he loved me, and that he couldn't get me out of his head, but at the same time he let us both go off and have significant others instead of either of us committing. I can't get to you is when he blocks me out, completely takes me out of his world, and tells his girlfriend and my boyfriend everything I say if I say anything to him at all. >< It's fucked up. My favorite song of all time, to be completely honest. |
| Something Corporate – Katie (Demo) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love this song. (the fact that my name's katie doesn't mean anything with that XP ) | |
| Boys Like Girls – The Great Escape (Demo) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm thinking it's more the teens are misunderstood by their peers as well as adults, and they've got the stigma of the least-liked couple in the school. I think they're running away, but before they leave they're making peace with the town and saying their goodbyes, leaving behind all that was said about them, and all the bull they've put up with in their relationship. Just my two cents. |
| The Spill Canvas – Polygraph, Right Now! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah, it's about cheating. The girl says she's leaving because they don't work together, when in reality she's leaving him for another guy. Such a blatantly powerful song. | |
| Meriwether – Paper Airplane Machine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Say your prayers 'Cause everyone will notice And everyone will care Fall asleep 'Cause sleeping was for angels And angels never cared" He's calling her worthless, no one, because he says that everyone will care, but then contradicts that with sleeping was for angels and angels never cared. He's calling her an angel, meaning she never cared and can't be part of everyone, thus she's worthless. If that makes sense. I'm thinking she cheated. She loved someone else as well, and in doing so she broke him down and destroyed him. |
| Meriwether – Phoenix Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oyy, I can understand this song more than anyone ever should. Not just rough sex, but a rough relationship. Like, physically rough. He's afraid that her eyes will open and she'll see that he's abusing her, so he controls her and manipulates her until she doesn't know what the hell she's thinking yet can't blame him. Amazing, amazing song. |
| Sick Puppies – All The Same Lyrics | 19 years ago |
oyy, i absolutely love this song. it's so powerful. correct chorus: i don't mind, i dont care as long as your here go ahead, tell me you'll leave again you'll just come back running holding your scarred heart in hand it's all the same and i'll take you for who you are if you take me for everything do it all over again it's all the same the end of this song, the lines where he's obviously in pain and throwing the words down into the receptive party's face, makes me sob. "go ahead, say it. you're leaving. you'll just come back running." oh, gets me every time. |
| Joseph Arthur – Honey And The Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i love this song. to death and to pieces. it's quite the relationship song for me, which sort of sucks, but i can't listen to it without thinking about someone. | |
| Everclear – Father Of Mine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
my father left my mother when i was three months old. i've never had any contact with him, other than child support checks required by law and the healthcare i got through the army from him. i've got one photo album of him holding me and being with my mom, but other than that i've never seen him or met him or contacted him at all. i hate that i can relate to this, but i can. too much. amazingly powerful song. |
| Rise Against – The Good Left Undone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah uhm this isn't about the rainforest. It's about him finding his soulmate but hurting her too much to hold onto her, and thus letting her go to find something better for her. He loved her enough to let her go. | |
| Box Car Racer – There Is Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is the song for my current relationship. Both myself and my boyfriend are semi-obsessed with the work of Tom Delonge, so it just fit. Now, in my opinion though, it's about a perfect relationship that's ruined when it's discovered that the girl is cheating. "Do you care if I don't know what to say? Will you sleep tonight? Will you think of me? Will I shake this off, pretend it's all okay that there's someone out there who feels just like me? There is" is all what's going through his head when he finds out she's not faithful and has a separate affair going on. |

| Forgive Durden – I'm A Sucker For Fakes Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Gorgeous song. The lyrics hit too close to home. One of those songs I wish I'd written. |
