I think this song is about war, and also about the nature of men, and i think this because i heard roger waters saying so, in an special called "Classic Albums", when "Dark Side of the moon" was the topic. He also spoke a lot about how he felt at that time, how he managed to do the song and the voices in the end of the song. These voices were random answers to questions like "When was the last time you use violence?" followed by "Where you right?" to people in and put the studio invited to do that. Dark Side of the moon refers to the Earth eclipsed by the moon, so the light can't reach our planet. Its about a dark period, where wars and other sort of evil things are being done. All sort of aspects of the human nature are focused with a great, grey and emotional approach. Rogers said; But you should seek the light, not the dark. Its temporary. And hopeful. //The moon hasn't got a dark side, because it hasn't got a light side. It's all dark, and the reflection of the sun in it is what we see when we see it. |

For me the song is about being controlled and wanting freedom... he sounds so tired of everything.. I like the meaning of the SUB POP records, (the one OpiumforthePeople talks about), but i positively think its about all situations you could be like that... like in other songs he talks about the feeling, without regarding the situation... He would say it did not meant anything when he was asked, but just for fun, because he was very sarcastic, but im sure he actually felt these things in his life, and he put 'em into the song... Clitoroid, I think you're actually the one who dont like this one... for me it's one of best nirvana's songs... I dont think what you say about Kurt playing it live is completely true as they used to END concerts with this song... It's very powerful.. You could like more others, but you cant say this aint one of best songs of his... as you cant also say that he didnt to play it live... the song that he tried not to play live was Smells Like Teen Spirit, because he got tired of people's fascination with that song... I'm 90% sure the first two lines are wrong, they should be: If you wouldn't mind I would like IT blew If you wouldn't mind I would like IT loose meaning he wanted things blew and loose, just to feel free the others lyrics are correct another thing: Word that rhyme with shame is lame and fame, you could think of anything... and you could think of even more that could fit the song... This is one of best nirvana's song.. |

It's one of the best nirvana's songs and its very powerful because the music takes one to another place, with vertigo, and very very quickly. It has so many rhytm changes its so great. It describes perfectly an aneurysm, that is, a bulge in a blood vessel, that can burst and lead to death at any time.. and the riff of this songs remains me of the blood passing through the aneurysm over and over, almost leading to an explosion at the end of the song. For me, he tried to mean that doin heroin is much like loving someone with passion, you feel the same. This meaning is very rich to me, because i dont wanna do drugs never, but I have him to tell me that is much like loving someone with all my heart. And please outcesticide121, dont be so haughty, people who dont like Nirvana can say their opinion, and newbies too, or werent you a newbie sometime? Read the incesticide booklet and you'll get kurt dont like people who consider themselves better than others... Its painful. "She keeps it pumpin' straight to my heart..." Yeah its true... I've read Kurt didnt know Teen Spirit was a deodorant when writing this song... hehe he was so frustated...like SmithBJ says, he read it on a wall, a FRIEND of his write that (that friend did mean the deodorant, but didnt tell him)... Soon afterwards, he released the song, and the deodorant started to win a lot of money!!!! LOL The song is monumental, is not the best nirvana's song (listen you know you're right, aneurysm, rape me, about a girl, big long now, aero zeppelin, love buzz, lounge act, territorial pissings, in bloom, etc)... He didnt even like to play this song live, because so many people JUST wanted this from his band, and thats a shitty thing he couldnt stand. The most valuable thing of this song is that he was the voice of a generation by singing it, and the message of the song, the meaning, is to remark how STUPID and SILLY are young people now... most young people almost cant think... it's a recall to an awakening that has to happen... it's a complaint about how any idea from a young man doesn't count for the world because this young man it's surrounded by stupid young men...it's a big scream to notice this. When he sings, "With the lights out it's less dangerous" its SO powerful and so meaningful for me... It blows my head off. The most important thing is how people took the song and how important the message is.. He is still singing... |

I dont believe any of you, because I dont know you. But you let me know your opinions, so I'll let you know mine. I think this song is amazing. It's creepy. It's monumental. It's more than you can tell. This song is to me, the best nirvana's song, and it means to me that he went through a lot of suffering, and he cannot feel anything more than his pain. I think he know he wouldnt do more music because he wouldnt be able to, so he took all his feelings and put them together in this final song. He knew he'll find peace in another place. It's so a vivid song, that I think he's talking to me when I listen to it. When he says you know you're right, I think he's talking to the world, to every one of you, sayin that what you think that happened, happened. I think you shoul read carefully this part: I'm so warm and calm inside I no longer have to hide Let’s talk about someone else Steaming soup against her mouth Nothing really bothers her She just wants to love herself He's fine right now, so let's talk about another person. His daughter meaning innocence, her wife, meaning love. And all things you can say to her, she wont be bothered, so dont even try. Let the people live. Oh! and at the end it's true he says "you know your rights", meaning you know what you can do or what you cant, sayin that there are limits. It's a powerful song because it had a lot of meaning to the artist. That what's important. Kurt was a genious. he transformed everything he felt into a song, until he could feel. I think that kurtcomeback is quite right about this one, but we know kurt liked to put together lyrics written at different times which result in really difficult-to-understand songs... I think he didn't talk about the meanings of their songs because he really liked people to doubt about them and keep listening over and over, just like I do, lol... This song is awesome... it creates an unique atmosphere which puts me in a somber mood.. Look at the title of this song: Big Long Now. When you dont know by the lyrics what to think look at the title(the artist tend to put the title when finish the song, and says to people how could they read it) ... ... The song is about a moment you cant get out, with opressing feelings, maybe related to different moments of life. It could be specifically about the end of a relationship: It's not cold enough: You still have feelings for the other person Please put this side up: You still give advice and care for the other, you tell him/her how to do things, when its not really necessary anymore She is moving through: She is going away, letting you behind Can we show our faces now?: Can we say the things as they are? Im not interesting: You dont feel you have anything to offer (It happens when ending a relationship) She's not turning green: She seems fine Shameful as it seems: An embarrasing moment, big long now.. Endless climb/in this climb: You have to get over her Im blind: you dont know the way why cant i hear?: Why cant I hear myself? and my friends?
