"a little dust never stopped me none, he liked my shoes so I kept them on" this part refers to oral sex, the cowboy type she's fallen for likes it when she keeps her shoes on during it. "you're just too used to my honey, now. you're just too used to my honey." This refers to her cowboy type she's fallen for being used to her honey (how she tastes down there and wanting to try other womens honey and see if its sweeter, how he now wants to explore). "and I think I could leave your world, if she was the better girl. so when we died I tried to bribe the undertaker. 'cause I'm not sure what you're doin' or the reasons." This part if about her saying she'd have left him except for the fact that she was a better person and better for him than this new honey pot side dish he'd been sipping from on the side. Then she goes on to say, once her and this cowboy guys relationship was officially dead, she wanted answers anyway she could find them ...she'd go to any lengths necessary, even bribing this new honey pot he'd left her for (the new honey pot is the undertake she's referring to) ...Because she really was convinced she was better for him and guess she thought he'd come around and figure that out. "don't bother coming down, i made a friend of the western sky. don't bother coming down, you always like your babies tight." She's eventually realizes she's better off without him, and says don't bother coming down to see me, don't visit, I am doing fine without you now and things are looking up for me, blue skies ahead. Don't bother coming to see me anymore, don't even, I know you like to keep your babies tight with you and all but not this one, no longer am I one of your babies, I want no parts of you anymore. No longer am I your baby honey pie, so beat it buster. "turn back one last time, love to watch those cowboys ride. but cowboys know that cowgirls ride on the Indian side. and you know what you're doin' so don't even..." This really pionts to a sexual position where the woman is on top of the man "riding cowgirl", and how hot it is to see it and how she enjoys the position and the sense of empowerment, it pins the woman on top and in control, much like the Indians were pinned against the cowboys in the wild wild west. And she's saying and you knew what you were doing when it came to that position too. |

| Panic! at the Disco – But It's Better If You Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
If you've seen the video for this song, he is in a Burlesque club, rather than a strip club. Here is the URL to the video code: http://www.allmusicvideocodes.com/p/Panic_At_The_Disco/but-its-better-if-you-do.html That's certainly what it appears to be. See the line right in the beginning: "Now I'm of consenting age to be forgetting you in a cabaret Somewhere downtown where a burlesque queen may even ask my name..." A great example of a Burlesque queen is Maralyn Mansons ex wife Dita Von Tease, you can see her site here: http://www.dita.net/ Most people think that "burlesque" means female strippers walking a runway to a bump and grind beat. Burlesque refers to theatrical entertainment of broad and parodic humor, which usually consists of comic skits (and sometimes a striptease). Burlesque performers would be insulted I think to be referred to as strippers, they are in my oppinion much more classy and they are actually classier and are actually performers, What’s the difference between burlesque dancers versus strippers? In burlesque, you can do anything; you can take any background that you’re experienced in and make it into a concert. Whether it’s acting, ballet, whatever – you can make that into an entertaining show. Stripping is a little less formal. You’re trying to entice the people with that. I’m trying to find a way to explain it, but with burlesque you can put on a crazy show and stripping is not that. With stripping, it’s like you’re taking off your clothes for money, in front of men and that’s it. Burlesque performers are actually talented and have dignity and class. See these links for more on the Burlesque genre and it's history: http://www.musicals101.com/burlesque.htm http://www.musicals101.com/burlesque2.htm I actually am enthralled when I think of or see a Burlesque queen in all her glory performing. Howevere, the one time I actually went to an actual strip jiont, I felt very sorry for the girls there, stripping down to nothing and looking hard, drugged up and reducing themselved to stripping away there clothes just to make a living or get by. Some of them end up raped, even killed & could expose themselves to STDs too if they wrapped up with the wrong guy or guys. The lifestyle of a Burlesque queen for the most part doesn't come close to that of a strippers. There maybe exceptions, but in general they tend to be far more classy. The "class" of exotic entertainment & they don't wish to be included in the same pool as your everyday strip joint dancer. That said, I LOVE this video and currently it's playing in my My Space profile. I think beside the video being brilliant and VERY sexy especially with the masquerade masks and all (think the late, great Stanley Kubrick film: "Eyes Wide Shut", the masks in that movie are much like the ones in this video ironically.) The masks used in the videos, much like in: Eyes Wide Shut, most certainly imply he if ashamed to be at the club, but isn't feeling guilty, for it's in his rights (it's a free country) as an adult, to go to such as club and let go and relax & have fun. Towards the end of the video he does kiss the burlesque queen who gives him a lapdance, and then he takes off the mask and she slaps him. Which to me most certainly backs up my initial theory that he is not feeling guilty at all for being there, he isn't there because he's trying to replace the women he's in love with, he's still in love with her (at that particular junction in time atleast), he simply needs to let go after a hard day at work and just have some adult fun. That's why he tells the women he loves not to wait up for him at the beginning of the video. Perhaps he is a bit upset that the women he loves tries to restrict him from attening the club but he's not going to leave her over that. He's not going to the club to replace her, it's just a temporary escape. As far as "I may have faked it" verse...well he's saying to the dancer, I'm afraid I may have faked it, meaning that he was so into the dancer and her lapdance than he kissed her when he was really just going along with the routine and got caught up in it and he thinks he should have kissed her but alas it was already done, she in turn, must have suspected right away that the kiss was just part of him faking it and so she slapped him. That's the best theory I have come up with as far as that verse is concerned. Aside from being a fan of the video & song...I also am very impressed by the sexiness of the bands lead singer: Brendon Urie ("Bear" for friends) was born in April 12, 1987; He lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been to Las Vegas myself and would love to go back for sure and I will someday. |

| The Cure – Apart Lyrics | 18 years ago |

It's apparent to me upon reviewing the lyrics, the guy has been unfaithful and seeking forgiveness. = He waits to hear her say "Forgive" But she justs drops her pearl-black eyes And prays to hear him say "I love you" But he tells no more lies. He's already told the ultimate lie, by loving her and being unfaithful in their relationship. He waits for her to understand But she won't understand at all She waits all night for him to call But he won't call. Here is realizes she'll never understand his cheating on her, and she deep down does wish he'd call so they can talk it over, but he is too ashamed to call. He realizes that it may indeed be his fault that they've ootten so far apart, still he cries out, questioning it, in hopes someone will give him a definitive answer. Even though (subconsciously he knows) he really has noone else to blame but himself. = How did we get this far apart? We used to be so close together How did we get this far apart? I thought this love would last for ever |

| The Cure – The Same Deep Water as You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think to me, it's clear that his lover is committing suicide and he is witnessing it, and at the same time, being baited or tempted into joining them. They don't want to deal with life after their lover is dead, so the whole song he is considering drowning himself as well, so they can be together. "Kiss me goodbye Pushing out before I sleep" Is the narrator telling his lover he wants a kiss goodbye before he goes, but he can't pull himself a way really cause he knows she's going to drown herself. "Kiss me goodbye Bow your head and join with me" And face pushed deep Reflections meet The strangest twist upon your lips And disappear The ripples clear And laughing Break against your feet And laughing Break the mirror sweet "So we shall be together" In this verse, the lines with quotes around them, is his lover baiting him to bow his head (under the water = And face pushed deep) and kiss her so their reflections can meet. The strangest twist upon your lips, has to be her disappointment that he isn't as willing to join her in this suicide kiss, for she is so willing and so ready. (And laughing Break the mirror sweet )Is him actually pulling away from her in the middle of the kiss cause she is trying to hold him down in the water with her, against his will. (Their reflections no longer meeting = break the mirror sweet). You see he's wresting with his conscience here for he had promised her he'd commit suicide right along with her, to prove his integrity & everlasting love for her and he now realizes he can't do it (Can't you see I try Swimming the same deep water as you is hard) Living up to the idea of suicide to prove is everlasting love & commitment to her is becoming a harder pill for him to swallow then he thought, so to speak. He feels he is in over his head in terms of what he has promised. But is really contemplating doing it anyways cause she keeps baiting him with ( "So we shall be together... "). "Kiss me goodbye" Pushing out before I sleep It's lower now and slower now The strangest twist upon your lips The "kiss me goodbye" in this verse is in quotations, unlike the kiss me goodbye in verse one. Which means the narrator is quoting someone other than himself, so this is his lover asking him to kiss her goodbye. It's lower now and slower now (Is her with her lips pouted ready for the kiss goodbye so she can again try and pull him under with her, and she is slower in her descent back down unto the water, cause is holding out hope he will go through with their agreement and join her finally for the final descent. The strangest twist upon your lips, is her expression of disarray when she realized he isn't going to go through with it & she is alone in this final descent out of this world. It's finally sinking in, the idea that she must go it alone. But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes. This is a great verse, that tell so much. Her he is saying I don't see and I don't feel, he can no longer see the disapproval in her expression (the strangest twist upon her lips) or feel her cause she has drowned deep in the water. But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile The very last thing before I go Even though he can't see her, he still has the memory of her drowning herself, and holds up his hands before his eyes cause at this point he has begun crying and then pictures her smile, that's the last thing about her he wants to remember (The very last thing before I go). The memory of her beautiful smile reflecting in the water, as it seems to provide some kind of solace for him during this extremely sad moment. I will kiss you I will kiss you I will kiss you forever on nights like this I will kiss you I will kiss you And we shall be together... Picturing the smile, remembering their last kiss, makes him in his minds eye, picture kissing her forever...for she is dead now and during this verse he is holding her lifeless body and kissing her, despite the fact that she's dead, she is almost even more hauntingly beautiful to him in death and that's why he says I will kiss you forever on nights like this. |

| Seal – Prayer For The Dying Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I do not believe he specifically talking about a heroine addict he knew necessarily in the first verse. I gather that he is eluding to careless needles in general and how people who use them must not value there life if they would throw it away like that. They are fearless people, maybe more like foolish really is what it comes down to, or their life is so messed up, they feel it isn't worth living anymore. (Forceful ageing, Help me I'm fading. Heaven's waiting, It's time to move on.} I think this verse is the person who is dying of a disease (such as cancer, alcholism or drug addiction), coming to terms with accepting their condition and that they're going to die but at the same time a part of them is still reaching out for help of any kind to get them through. {Crossing that bridge, With lessons I've learned. Playing with fire, And not getting burned. I may not know what you're going through. But time is the space, Between me and you. Life carries on... it goes on.} This verse is the person whom the dying one is asking for help, saying the dying person that they too have been carelessly living (Playing with fire) and through watching what they're going through, they are now realizing they need to move on from their careless ways (crossing that bridge) and be more cautious and value life more than they have. (With lessons I've learned). Realizing seeing their friend this way, has made them realize how mortal we all are. So he says (But time is the space, Between me and you.) Meaning we are not all that are from death, in reality, you could die tomorrow. {Just say die, And that would be pessimistic. In your mind, We can walk across the water. Please don't cry, It's just a prayer for the dying. I just don't know what's got into me.} Here the person who's watching their friend as they're dying is contemplating the word die, saying yes it's a pessimistic word, for even his friend as he's dying is having visions of the next life (n your mind, we can walk across water). He's then saying to his dying friend {Please don't cry, It's just a prayer for the dying. I just don't know what's got into me} Meaning he doesn't want his friend to be sad about whats happening to them, he wants them to not cry, that he's praying for them with every fiber of his being. That is prayer is a spiritual one that seems to be permeating from deep within his own soul. (I just don't know whats got into me) {There is a light through that window ...light through that window... Hold on say yes, while people say no Life carries on ...on on on... Ohh! It goes on....oh-ee-oh, whoa-ee-oh ho oh...} This verse is continuing with the spiritual journey the friend of the dying person is now going on, the enlightenment he's experiencing as this prayer emits itself from his soul. He is overcome with the realization of life on the other side, that death is not the end, but in a sense, another beginning. (There is a light through that window ...light through that window...) {When nothing else matters. When nothing else matters. I just don't know what's got into me. It's just a prayer for the dying. ...dying dying dying dying... For the dying.} At this piont the person who's seeing their friend at the most fatal stages of their dying is stating to te friend and to themselves that nothing else matters to their friend at this stage accept the next life as that is the fate thats been assigned to them by their god, and he spiritually will continue to pray that they do reach that next stage safely into that next life, their new journey. (It's just a prayer for the dying. ...dying dying dying dying... For the dying.) ***This analysis I have done in dedication to someone very important to in my life, who's on the verge of dying and can go any day now as I type this.*** |

| A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This about someone coping as best they can while in the throes of a drug/alchohol addiction or terminal illness. The album it's om 13 steps is in reference to the 12 steps of rehabilitaion for an addiction. The 13th step is for when the 12 steps fail, where do you go next. He seems to in need of an intervention, perhaps from God himself. He is looking for the light at the end, cause he is choosing to live, and whatever doesn't kill him he feels will only make him stronger. He is seeking a way out or atleast strengeth in which to stop taking the pills and be able to cope on his own, without painkillers or any sort of dependancy. No more needy holes, just be able to go on, without any sort of medicinal drug refuge or crutch. He's seeking to be lifted up from his despair and free to live his life under his own control instead of any drugs or medications. To finally be free. |

| My Chemical Romance – This Is How I Disappear Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I do think it's about him and The Used lease singer Bert McCracken and their falling out. It had to have had some impact being they were best friends. "To unexplain the unforgivable drain all the blood, and give the kids a show." My have been in reference to the incident where Bert fell while performing on stage during a performance of "On My Own"and was rushed to a hospital and diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. "Who walks among the famous living dead, drowns all the boys and girls inside your bed. And if you could talk to me, tell me if it's so, that all the good girls go to heaven. Well heaven knows " the boys and girls inside your bed is in reference to the rumor Bert is bisexual (dated kelly Osbourne girl wise) and rock stars having reputations for being premiscious, is another reason why the lyrics says" all the drowns all the boys and girls inside your bed". The famous living dead lyric is in reference to once again Bert of The Used, collapsing while on stage performing "On My Own", and being rushed to the hospital as I have already referenced. |

| Cold – Sick Of Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
(Gave all the vampires back to God that day) FIguratively refers to the people who enter into our lives and suck all of our energy and emotion from us, and drain us till we have nothing left. In my oppinion. I think this song is a guy who falls for a women who he realizes after they are already involved and & he's fallen for her, what kind of person she really is and he confronts her one night about what he finds wrong with her (You stole my passion Burned my everything) and she leaves him suddenly in a frenzied fury of anger. (she realizes she's sick of him hence the title "sick of man") and would rather be alone then with someone who makes her confront the person she really is, someone with mental problems. (You kept your feelings hidden Like a psycho, burned it all) As the song continues, he's battling with the urge to follow her as he realizes he still loves her deep down. It's like a can't live with or without you type emotion towards her. Also he's in shock that she's just up and leaving him so suddenly. (I'll never love you, but I've got words to say You killed the feeling But the pain's still alive) He's so angry, he's decided he'll never actually love her, not for the person she truly is, and infact he could never love her for the messed up person she truly is and has become. (No one got raped here, but the pain's still inside) Is him trying to compare what the realization of seeing her in her true light has done to him as a man, he feels raped inside cause she pretended to be someone she wasn't so he would fall or her and wanna be involved with sexually. She decieved him and then once he feel for her hook, line and sinker she then let him see the real her. |

| Veruca Salt – Fly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Its about a person falling in love with someone who has a week into their relationship out of knowhere commits suicide. (One heart for one week of May, why me)They are feeling foolish for getting involved with someone and disenchanted cause they chose to love somone who apparently didn't love themselves. They feel foolish also for not seeing the suicide coming. (Fine fool for a holiday.) To make it even worse this all happened around a holiday. They can't believe this foray of fate that their love life has taken and they wanna jion their fallen love and fly to heaven cause they can't deal with the sudden suicide and the grief stricken heart they have now which weighs them down. (Fly me home to heaven's gate, fly me. Fly me. Fly... ) That would lift them up over their grief and its the only solution they see. |

| Veruca Salt – Forsythia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I believe the singers in veruc salt are lesbians which I support them for that. That's what this song essentially is about. The fact that are intrigues by this Forsynthia, and how she is unique looking, different and that makes her beautiful to them. You know the type of person who isn't obviously beautiful but have a unique aura about them making them gorgeous. The line " I don't mind sitting in the way back, way back. I don't mind, lying to my friends. " Is about one of them getting intimately involved with forsynthia & dating her but forsynthia preferring they have a discreet relationship (cause she's not out of the closet). Sitting in the way back when they are out driving together so they aren't seen together and noone whispers about them. It's them saying they'll go along with it, that they're cool with it cause they're so infatuated with Forsynthia. |

| Veruca Salt – Wolf Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think its about someone who's in a car accident where there car FALLS into a lake or some body of water and by the time their goodfriend or lover arrives a the scene of the accident they dive into try and save them but are too late to save them. (I took a trip when you needed me... When you fell, Waters were driving me To a deep place;) On top of that they are afraid to report the accident right away as they can't come to terms with how to deal with it, they are feeling extremely guilty for not getting there in time to save there love or friend. (I slept in hell... ) That line about lavender should read lavender flowers...these flowers were given to them by their now deceased friend or lover and are now the only remaining comfort they have. (They comfort me ever since the day when you fell. ) Very sad song indeed. |

| Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's catchy, I don't normally listen to this type of music, I am into more heavier stuff and some industrial but I don't think this song is bad. I think this song is a big fuck you to all those that say just because you make it and become a success, that you're sellout. It's then brazingly stating, this is who we are, take it or leave it. We're shooting off these lyrincs to you, not seeking your approval but because we have the mic and you're the audience thats listening. Basically its just an in your face rant to those who complain that because a band becomes popular it means they are now slaves to their own image. He's saying he doesn't care which side wins, we are what we are and will continue to march on and fight all the others who come out us, with our weapons in the form of words. | |
| BoySetsFire – My Life In The Knife Trade Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
how many times have I noticed that our eyes hardly ever meet from your judgment seat "i can feel the anger for my very being fill me in on when you became such a big part of my life that i should bother with all your lies designed to bring me down" This song is a very personal one from the lead singers own perspective, who is gay and he is describing a relationship he had with a guy that he could never feel complete or emotionally sedated in. He felt the guy accually passed judgement on him with how he looked at him and maybe the guy even questioned himself and his own identity. So because of the awkwardness & tension the person made him feel in the relationship, like when they would be out in public and how hard the guy made it for them to exist as a couple in others eyes he felt shunned & disenchanted . "i can see every light inside your brain go on every time that i walk by for noise and whispers" It wasn't comfortable going out in public with the guy cause people would whisper & the guy never made him feel any more comfortabel by how he acted as well."your comfort in my suffering is no longer disturbing" . "trade my life for a barrel of gold find someone else before i get too old if i live my life for aesthetic gain will you repay me with all your shame" This verse says he is so discouraged by the course of the relationship and where it has him emotionally that he would like to trade his life for better more golden one...find someone else before he gets too old, someone that would respect him and not thwart him in his own insecurities, apathy and shame. |

| Pink Floyd – Coming Back to Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Where were you when I was burned and broken While the days slipped by from my window watching Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless Because the things you say and the things you do surround me While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words dying to believe in what you heard I was staring straight into the shining sun" Sounds to me like this verse is a someone going through a rough period...maybe they are trying to get through a stressful, emotionally exhausting plight for example they are drug addict going through rehab or a soldier who's gone off to war. And they feel as if the one they most expected to be by their side is not there by there side. The one they needed most to support them is not there for them at all. They feel abandoned in their time of need. "Lost in thought and lost in time While the seeds of live and the seeds of change were planted" This verse refrences the myriad of changes going on for the person in this troubling sector of their life, how they are seeking some sort of stability, their thoughts are very dismal and all encompassing & this is cumbersome to them. "Outside the rain fell dark and slow While I pondered on this dangerous but Irresistable past-time I took a heavenly ride through one silence I knew the moment had arrived For killing the past and coming back to life" This verse speaks the most to me, in that doesn't say that much but in turn ends conveying everything. Here I envision a soldier at war, its a raining and a chaotic time, with the war going on & the only way to past the time is dangerous as you can never put your guard down (this dangerous but Irresistable past-time). This person feels dazed by whats going on around them, pondering why they are even there and the fact that again the one person they need to help them through this period has not made contact or shown any support. They then decide its time to kill the past and move on from this person & find their own path out of this dark period of their life by "coming back to life". Realizing the hard way that they can depend on anyone else to pull them out of it. "I took a heavenly ride trough our silence I knew the waiting had begun And headed straight... into the shining sun" This is the closing verse and really summons it up well. He realized after not hearing back any support or compassion from the person in his life he need most (rather it be a best friend, lover, sibling, father or mother) that he has to finally move on completely and find his own light out of this dark time in his life. ' took a heavenly ride trough our silence' refers to the period of time where he didn't hear back from the person he most sought support from, all he heard back was silence. 'I knew the waiting had begin And headed straight... into the shining sun' . He waited to hear from them even though he knew it's be to no avail. Eventually he would begin his journey to find his own way out, his path of light to escape out of the darkness...into the shining sun. Amazing Song Indeed. |

Oops type, let me fix it here It is about how people draw conclusions about Orgy cause of the way they dress that they must be bisexual or gay, but infact they are NOT . |

I agree with ColdInHere's view piont - Let's fake an answer for the curious, Let's fake it all for the fame. They'll think delivering was easy, Living the fairy tales and the lies, lies It is about how people draw conclusions about Orgy cause of the way they dress that they must be bisexual or gay, but infact they are now (Let's fake an answer for the curious, Let's fake it all for the fame.)...And how in general the world judges you based on your fashion and such, if a guy wears pants too tight or a shirt too pink he must be gay or flaming. Also how fashion becomes larger than life and engulfs us and our world, (Opticon is here to lead us Opticon is in control So quick to change us And imitate us) Opticon represents all thats monopolizing and brainwashing about the fashion world as a whole. |

| Orgy – Dramatica Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
clearly this song is about a cross dresser who he doesn't realize is one but is suspect but is so infatuated he can't help but gaze in lust at the beautiful specimen dancing before him. He begins to not even care if Dramatica is male or female as they are so Amazon like, goddess like it begins to not matter. (I caught their sparkle from the runway Such a fool for the amazon) Their Dramatic is in all its glory, a perfectly cross dressed Amazon goddess and noone is all too sure what they're seeing gender wise but the nonetheless they can't turn their gaze away as they are in awe of Dramatics beauty And (everyone's daze is on Look what you've done) Beauty so intense its drug like, intoxicatingly decieving (Chemical abduction, restricted our vision We were on auto drive) The last verse (Don't blame the platforms for your fall We were chasing obsession Imagine you as me and I'll tell you Just what was on my mind that night 'cause it feels like you, feels like I, feels like we do What's on your mind? ) Follows the realization that Jay has just been with this cross dresser and enjoyed everything that happened between them but doesn't want it to ever go beyong that (don't blame the platforms for your fall) , it was all done out of obsession and not love. And it was prompted by Dramatics deception intinally anyways. (Gifts of pleasure you recieved Everything you wanted from me) he gave himself to Dramatica in everyway sexually out of lust but it was brought on by Dramatics deception of gender. |

| Orgy – Chasing Sirens Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is about pretentious barbie dolls such as Paris Hilton who think they reinvent the wheel everytime they start a new fashion trend...they think their shit doesn't stink and that we should all bow down to them cause they're so original, when really all those barbie doll, models and screen sirens are all the same..blonde, bimbos with plastic parts who have money but zero in terms of intelligence..another great example is that anorexic Nichole Ricci... You like to be the center of attention, don't you Under the spell of another phase So pretentious Plastic uninvited Don't you find it strange How they wear their egos on their sleeves Until they see your face She's always doing stuff to grab our attention..for example starvin herself, getting a DUI, drugs and such. Oh and I can't not mention Lindsay Lohan....she complains why the media is always invading her life and paying so much attention to her, when she does all this crap to draw attention to her, liife sleeping with every women chaser in hollywood including all of Paris' exes. I mean they always do things to signal sirens, drawing attention to themselves and then complain that the media won't leave them alone...they are hypocrites - hence this line (But you prompted the war You're still a hypocrite) they prompt the swarm of the media, then they are stuck in the media war...if they didn't keep feeding the media so much maybe they'd leave them alone more. |

It's certainly not about shyness...to me it's about a girl he is very wanting to be with who plays coy with him and pretends to be awkward around him and thwart his advances but that only makes him want her more ('Cause I need the push to elude to things I have to say ) Jay's lyrics are never cut and dry... More proof to my theory is in this verse: There's a time and a place, we hide behind An alternate face When the freak needs a nurse you comply Again she is trying to hid the fact that she is accually a freak sexually and really wants him... it's a game to her to drive him crazy to the piont of wanting her even more(We're the people who fuck with your mind When you sleep inside) ...she's a cock tease really toying with him in like 107 ways if you will ;) which only makes him when he sleeps at night dream up 107 naughty things he wants to do to her once she finally drops her act and lets him have her.( Let's talk about you and me tonight 'Cause I'd really like to take you home) And the final pure proof of my theory is little line (With so many faces) this eludes to the little masks that people such as herself hide behind, a part of their grand scheme/game to mind fuck a guy who they know wants them in the worst way. You just can't over simplify Jay's lyrics, it's a total insult to him in my oppinion. This song is amazing. |

Maybe its about Billy...or guys such as him. You know the type who are narcissistic, and think only their view counts, since they think when they were born, someone crowned them king. It could be about the pretty boy type as well, the one who thinks he's too perfect and that everyone should bow before him because he has some kind of god complex. and also he thinks he's gods gift to women too. I have a 24 year old guy in this corporate office I work in and I swear the lyrics in this song could've been written explicitly for him. He's a big asshole, and thinks cause he's good looking that he can do no wrong and will get everywhere in life. He's so fake, kissing everyones ass and expecting them to kiss his ass in return. I hope someone does the right thing and shows Mr. Hot Shot the door one day. He needs a big slice of humble pie. |

| The All-American Rejects – It Ends Tonight Lyrics | 19 years ago |

It's about, hate and anger & revenge. Someone wronged him and he needs to clear the air, but not with words, it's too late for that, too complex(I can't explain myself at all) ...(When darkness turns to light) - means by the time the realization of what he's about to do to this person hits them, he will have already sought his revenge...as in punched their lights out as in the line (I'll give the final blow). I have felt anger like this towards someone so the lyrics were ones I could relate too. There isn't enough romantic relationship type lyrics/references in these lyrics to be about a girlfriend/boyfriend break up. The lyrics are at too many points calculated and conclusive...they are said with too much trepidation to be explicitly about romance gone wrong. |

| Alanis Morissette – Front Row Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is about her "relationships" in general being caustic. In the beginning ( know he's blood but you can still turn him away, you don't owe him anything ) is a reference to a temultious relationship with her father. Another ode to the Father relationship theory is in this verse (hey i'm not mad at you guardian i'm mad at myself for spending so much time with you and your jeckyl and hydeness i'm glad i figuratively slapped you on the wrist you laughed a wicked laugh and said "come here let me clip your wings!" (i know he's blood but you can still turn him away you don't owe him anything) "raise the roof" he yelled "yeah raise the roof!" I yelled back (unfortunately you needed a health scare to repriortize.) no thanks to the soap box. having me rile against them won't make an ounce of difference) In that verse she is saying she's not mad at her father or guardian...she's mad at spending so much time with him cause he had multiple personalities and was not very good health wise or didn't take care of himself (unfortunately you needed a health scare to repriortize.) (i started by saying things like "you smoke" "you live in new jersey (too far)" Another relationship also that threads or interlaces the song is the one with her boyfriend, maybe the hockey star she wrote jagged little pill over, when she broke up with him. I think him being a hockey star and being in New Jersey placed such a strain on their relationship that getting to know the real him up close was hard and so when she finally did see him up close for who he was, she was not too happy with what she saw him to be. (in my current state i think we should be careful of how much time we spend together) She's reconsidering whether she wants to carry on seeing him as much as she has, allowing herself to get too close to someone she isn't sure about. (.....for a while while i'm speaking to you know how much you hate to be interrupted maybe spend some time alone fill up your proverbial cup so that it doesn't always have to be about ) This is my favorite verse, so here goes my interpretation of it. Well this is her ex, the hockey player, here she is wrestling with him having an oversized ego and her wanting to have conversations with him that don't just include hin talking about himself....:o) I love it. Go Alanis ;o) |

I agree with qb42931 on this one, mainly for there is a verse that exempifies that interpretation without a doubt in my mind and it's this verse: (You'd give him love and affection But you couldn't keep him there), that to me is saying she gave all of herself to this man she loved and thought loved her back and he cheated on her all the time anyways. (The more that the air in your throat will linger When you call him your friend) this verse is in reference to the above interpretation as well, as she is wrestling with the idea that she should break off this relationship and just be friends with him but she doesn't know if she can handle it. As for why the man cheats on her, its obvious when someone is troubled in general they act out, he is crowing for repair and to act out his frusteration he cheats on the one he loves, as a means of subconciously getting attention. No matter how much love and affection she gave him, he was so troubled and needy that it wasn't enough so eventually he cheats again and again... My favorite verse and the best one by far is (Staring at a cold little hand Reading fault lines Of a shell of a man You were waiting for a word from above Wouldn't you know it No answer ever did come) This deals with her coming to grips with, he is not the man she married, merely a shell of that man (Reading fault lines Of a shell of a man) ....... (staring at a cold little hand) to me is her staring at her own hand, the one with her wedding band on it, wondering how the marriage came to be such a disaster. Then she looks to god above for answers to how it came to be such a wreck and how the man she married is now so different, a stranger...and no answer ever comes no matter how much she prays for the answer. (You were waiting for a word from above Wouldn't you know it No answer ever did come) I love the song and it falls in line with dissipation of my mom and dads failed marriage..cause my mom had so many issues and I think my dad did as well. So my dad not knowing how to repair himself, and my mom not knowing either...he would cheat on my mom all the time, and try and hide it from her. It was his way of acting out subconciously. He needed attention and no matter how much love and affection my mom gave him, she couldn't keep him there. |

| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Inside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song for me is about someone realizing how Inside us all is this ignorance and self righteousness and he wants to be cleansed of it so he can go and live his life free of such burdens (Tear this anger from my soul Wash me clean and leave me whole) This song also deals with in the very first verse, a feeling inside that he's wrestling with bigot feelings (the ignorant theme again) and how if he didn't have those feelings weighing him down, he'd have a free heart & a free mind and better clarity of life hes leading. (Free my heart to feel again Free my mind to understand To run undeterred) He feels once the burdens of such feelings hes wresting with Inside him are lifted he will then be able to appreciate more wholly the beauty of the world around him. (Pull the blinders from my eyes Let me see the endless skies And drown here where I stand In the beauty of the land) |

| Better Than Ezra – Desperately Wanting Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I have read up on this and I have heard the Kappa Sigma & how it was deactivated in 2003 after pleading guilty to violating university conduct & how it was brough to the surface again when a freshman pledge was reportedly found on the verge of death as a result of being forced to swim for several hours in a freezing retention pond. The lyrics below are evidence supporting the Kappa pledge process theory - *They say the worst is over Kicked it over and ran Then they ask what went wrong * They were telling the pledged the worst was over (worst of the hazing). And *Kicked it over and ran* (his friend who was pledging with him, got frusterated and ran away, never finishing the pledging process officially). *Then they ask what went wrong When they turn you on again They turn you on again.* Thats when the family of his friend ask what went wrong (why he ran away) or it could be the him and the other pledges asking what went wrong to make him run away. EIther way, you get the picture. As far as the *When they turn you on again They turn you on again* That has to do with the fact that after asking what went wrong, they likely were trying to turn him on to the idea of continuing the pleadge process despite his own fears. (his battling with them trying to turn him onto the pledge process once again). Oh the letters have dropped off Though they say you got them all I finally figured out some things you'll never know. Take back your life and let me inside We'll find the door if you care to anymore. This verse if quite prominant in the Kappa conviction as well. Oh the letters have dropped off - *The original name, “C.E.C. Fraternity”, was soon changed to Kappa Sigma Kappa, but the letters “CEC” did retain ritual significance within the fraternity (these letters can be found inscribed on the back of all Kappa Sigma Kappa badges). The badge of Kappa Sigma Kappa was a gold Jerusalem Cross. The Greek letters of the Fraternity appeared in gold on a black enameled disc in the center of the badge. Each part of the badge represented certain mystical concepts revealed in The Ritual.* So from the research I've done that line the " Oh the letters have dropped off Though they say you got them all I finally figured out some things you'll never know." Has to deal with how the pledge having never finished his the pledge process felt symbolically & literally he never earned his letters on his badge, and so he never found out all he would've known about the process, had he finished it out all the way through, cause he never became an active member (ie: had the badge with all the letters, given to those pledges who've completed The Ritual or hazing process). Thats my best assessment of that verse. Anyways I'd love to hear others views on this and any other verses. |

| Līve – Turn My Head Lyrics | 19 years ago |

It is about a gang rape if you listen to the context of the song and the vioce inflections and how tortured he sounds as he sings it and how combustible he becomes as he sings the lines "Oh no We came to love you all day These bastards are leavin' Somebody's got to stay" Clearly this is cut and dry (or as cut and dry as Live lyrics can be) that they were there, and raped here (ie "Your dress is torn to shreads Your eyes are crazy I bowed to save my head". It is ignorant to try and conceive of any other meaning for this song. He has clearly become infatuated with this girl they him and his buddies were gang raping so guilt sets in towards the end...and thats when he states "Whatever we called you It's just a name Just a name" . He mine as well have said : "Sorry for whatever we called you, it's just a name". It's sad that so many people don't get the meaning of this song and go on in this shrowd, thinking it's some lovely romantic ballad..None of Live's lyrics are that clear cut and simple. They all have an edge. That's why I like their songs & song lyrics, they make you think. |
