actually im almost positive that this songs, along with others like "you oughta know" refers to the time wehn she was around fourteen, and she was just becoming a star, and her music producer, or manager or someone she was working with at the time, who was much older, slept with her and basically ruined the carrier she was trying to start afterwards alanis kinda disappeared and then all of a sudden came out with "jagged little pill" which is filled with hate songs directed towards the fling she had with the music biz guy i know for a fact that songs on jagged little pill refer to it but im not sure if this song does i think so though.. it fits |

i think this song is basically about an overly dramatic girl that he had a past relationship with in the first part, he is saying your amazing but you choose to sit in the rain and call your self ugly, in other words, saying that she is great and knows it, but makes herself look pathetic for attention after the song gets more up beat, he is kind of mocking her, Do you make faces in the mirror smiling some And watching your hair grow is him pretty much saying "you so freakin' self absorbed, do you live your life in front of a mirror?" And I know I'm always improving but still It's satisfactory And I know you're almost perfect that part like him saying how she sees him, like he was never good enough for her, because she thinks she is perfect this is only my opinion i could be way off |

I just read all the comments to this song wow some people for the people who are complaining that the lyrics arn't right hmm lets just bitch about and not post the actual right lyrics to everyone else im pretty sure we have established the fact that ITS NOT IRONIC so you don't need to say it over and over and over we get it i think we have also got the point that it is purposely not ironic so shut up god damnit |
