"I feel insane every single time I'm asked to compromise ‘Cause I'm afraid" I look at the lyrics and the one thing that comes to mind is M. Shadows not wanting to go mainstream with A7X. "Shame pulses through my heart From the things I’ve done to you It’s hard to face, but the fact remains This is nothing new I let you down inside with suicidal memories Selfish beneath the skin But deep inside I'm not insane" Sounds like he feels that they let the original fans down with CoE. The "suicidal memories" maybe being the first to albums. Also I see this in a literal translation of someones relationship that fell apart. |

"Your living ends before the engineer What was your motive in this fight? (did they play you for the weaker of them?) How could you ever think you’d make it here? Was it greed that pushed your heart through the struggles you’ve endured?" This does sound like the writer, only now Claudio's motives confuse even him. |

| While thats true Crujebsul, its called inspiration. The song isn't about M. Shadows talking with friends about Iraq, it just sparked ideas for him to write a song, and like good lyricists this song has many open meanings for people to interpret. Hardly a waste of time if you enjoy the music. | |

Sounds to me like a person who doesn't want to be in the war in the first place. The disguise is the solider, its not who he is. He doesn't want to go on, but he has to. He's saying this to himself, trying to justify killing people in the war. "Its no fun but i've been here before. far from home and im fighting your war. (Not the way i pictured this, i wanted better things) Some are scared others killing for fun, i shot a mother right in front of her son. (Change this from my consciousness and please erase my dreams)" He just wants to forget everything thats happening. "Fight for honor, fight for your life. Pray to god that our side is right. Even though we won I still may lose, until i make it home to you. I see our mothers still in tears, grew up so fast where did those years go. Memories wont let you cry unless i don't return tonight." All he cares about is making it home in one piece. He's worried about those who are close to him. Then the end "Walk the city lonely, memories that haunt are passing by. A murderer walks your streets tonight. Forgive me for my crimes. Don't forget that i was so young, but so scared. In the name of God and Country. He's returned from war, but different. He is haunted by all his memories of the war, and still sees himself as a killer. He tries to justify it by saying he was young and doing for his god and his country. |

Especially from their music on STST and WTF and saying that they have a hard time ahead of them with fans and getting into their new style.
