| Cute Is What We Aim For – Lyrical Lies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
An old man gave me a tip he said "Don't waste your time with politics" he said "Just chase skirts instead, And "Life is too short, and you're almost dead" he said - Stop worrying (because life is too short for worrying) and messing around, just get a girl because time is running out and you still haven’t had love and crap "I met a woman once, I gave her my best shot" But never did I talk, and talk and talk, - I think its like saying he had his shot at a girl and she wanted him to tell her that he loved her but he couldn’t If I had her back, I'd be as real as my age I so don't blame them, I wouldn't do the same." But I can blame them I'd sing her this... - At first I thought by ‘as real as my age’ it meant fake, but now I’m thinking it could mean wise (which would make more sense) because if he had his shot again he would do things differently and say that he did love her And you want to be dressed in poetry, - You want me to tell you I love you But imagery doesn't fit, - If I did that I would be giving the wrong impression / I don’t love you And you want resizing, But darling dear get a grip. - You want a bigger part in my life And I think what I just wrote is going over my head, I'm stealing lines from myself, And what I said was never said. It's just a lyrical lie, Made up in my mind. - He’s really confused You're moving but not aware, You're drowsy without a care, Except keeping your whites behind your lids, - He’s watching her sleep And your lids are your best canvas, I can only imagine what you're painting, what you're painting. - He’s thinking that she’s dreaming (painting) about him. Her sleep (lids) is where she is most satisfied (best canvas) because in her dreams she can imagine him saying ‘I love you’. And your body on my mattress is proof, And your makeup on my pillow is proof, - Her being in his bed and putting on makeup for him shows how desperate she is But do you think I am telling you the truth? - He could just be leading her on to believing he has feelings. Or he could be talking to himself and saying maybe he does have deeper feelings he’s just not letting them come out. |

| The Automatic – Monster Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| To be honest, I think it's more about drugs, drinking and addictions. When they come across you, you need to try and get away from them and escape from the addcition. The monster symbolises either your urge to feed your addiction, or otherwise someone offering them to you. I like this song a lot! The chorus gets in you head badly.. | |
| The View – Same Jeans Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song! I think it's about how he wants to have fun and stuff and go partying, but thinks that he can do better and work and be serious. How I felt in college. | |
| The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song is about a friend helping another friend with a drug addiction - I would just say addiction but the line: Or break with the ones you've followed shows otherwise. You may think that a lot of songs are about drugs and stuff, so it must be different BUT it's not, if you look at the song properly with 'helping a friend that's a drug addict' in mind, it'll work ;) Anyway, I love this song. I think I heard it on Scrubs first and liked it, but never got to finding it. I saw the video during a dental check-up, and I thought the song was pretty awesome and bought it. I recommend it for any passer-bys who have either heard once or twice and are thinking about getting it, or others who have just heard of it. |

| Mika – Grace Kelly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I totally agree with the fact that it's about record labels and how music artists have to undertake different styles for them. Definitely reminds me of Queen and Scissor Sisters. This song is hard to get out of my head - it sounds so positive and upbeat, Mika has without doubt got off with great start. I love this song! | |
| The Feeling – I Love It When You Call Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is so addictive! I love it! I think it's about old friends, and how they were really good friends, but now you've seemed to lose touch. It reminds me of when I used to have long conversations on the phone with my friends from my old school, but now we don't talk anymore and I always remember the good times we had and how they were such good friends. And now, I wonder what they're like and how they've got on with life and if they've achieved what they used to say they always wanted to. I love the chorus, not lame at all for me. | |
| Hilary Duff – Come Clean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with Mechanismus. I despise Hilary Duff and think that singing isn't her thing, but this is a brilliant song! It's the only song from her that I like, but I like it a lot. The only reason I came across it though, was 'Laguna Beach: The Real OC' TV program. I thought they couldn't have picked a better theme song. As for the meaning of the song, well, I think it's about purifying yourself. And how somtimes after you think you've done something wrong, you should make up for it and apologise (etc.) instead of hiding away or ignoring the situation. Overrall, the lyrics don't seem so significant since it's coming from Hilary Duff, but her voice does match the melody. | |
| The Killers – Somebody Told Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think this song is about rumours in general, and the chorus was just a metephor/example. I agree with the earlier people who said not to take it so literally. " Breaking my back just to know your name, Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game" - Game as in rumours, he can't figure out what to believe and it's not only pissing him off, but hurting his feelings. "Anything goes but don't blink you might miss" - This could mean that there are loads of lies and things, but sometimes it's better to listen to them since they may be true. "Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this I said heaven ain't close in a place like this" - On Earth, whereever you are, not many people are very honest and it's generally a bad place. "Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight" - Obvious meaning, a rumour is stopping him from doing what he wants to do. "Ready? Let's roll onto something new Taking its toll and I'm leaving without you" - I think this says that he just wants to forget what he heard because it's starting to take over him and again, it's preventing him from doing what his first intentions were. "A rushin', a rushin' around" - Lies spread around quickly. "But I just don't know now When all I wanna do is try" - He just wants to forget but he can't ecause he just so confused. Hope this is helpful. I say this with many songs, but metephors can be quite useful in songs since they can have countless meanings - appealing to many people. However, they can be annoying since you may never know the true meaning or you can't get the true point out. Sometimes though, there are no real ways to describe something so metephors do come in handy. |

| The All-American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with the other people that have said you need to watch the video. I think it's about how everyone has secrets and sometimes you feel it's better off not telling anyone, yet it still 'eats' you apart keeping it. It can also refer to someone cheating, but otherwise when he says 'you' I think he can be talking to himself. | |
| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Well, I think it's obvious that it's about people who are about to separate in some way (death, break-up, one is going abroad, etc.) and they don't want to separate. When he sings: 'Light up, light up As if you have a choice' I think they are saying get over it, even if you don't like it or you don't know how to, you need to relax a bit. 'To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do' - Makes it sound like the other person is dying and he is that he will never see them again. 'Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess' To me, that all makes out that they are going on a 'break'. Overall, I think that they are somehow separating yet still love eachother or whatever. Anyway, I love this song! If you have not already bought the album I suggest you do. |

| AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree that it's referring to Jesus. 'The stars that pierce the sky He left them all behind We're left to wonder why He left us all behind' Jesus suppoedly left Heaven and came to Earth to 'save' the world (by spreading the world of God and Heaven, etc. and by giving us 'eternal' life) and then he returned to Heaven again. I think that other key evidence that this song is reffering to Jesus is the chorus: 'Hey Miss Murder can I Hey Miss Murder can I Make beauty stay if I Take my life?' Using 'Miss Murder' as a representation for death, he is saying that if he 'takes his life' can he make life/beauty stay (heaven). 'What's the hook, the twist, within this verbose mystery?' I think he is saying, if he dies, what is he getting for it - or what do we have to do to deserve afterlife. 'Ever searching for what we were promised Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go' I think is saying like, we are always trying to figure out whether heaven exists or not and how to get to it. This may not be your interpretation of the song but it's certainly mine. ;) |

| Saves the Day – At Your Funeral Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| *overall, my opinion is that he is saying that people do die but we must not think think about it so much, and in such a bad way. Life's short - so live long! | |

To me, the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. The great thing about metephors though is that it can have countless meanings - including the simple one which is that he found his girlfriend on drugs and decided that it was better to end her misery by killing her (or however you interpret it). However, I think the innerthis song to me is talking about death. Near the beginning of the song when he says: 'If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out, or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?' I think he is saying that if you knew you were going to die, or go upon some unfortunate fate, would you care more about saving yourself or would you care more about spending the precious few moments you have left doing the things you love (in this case, it just happens to be getting 'high'). Moreover, he saying that we all know we're going to die but you shouldn't care too much about it and still live life to the full. When he says: 'I'd offer you my hand but it would hurt too much to watch you die.' I think he's saying that other people you care for may die but you need to stay strong for them and help them - or show them that they have done nothing bad and are doing nothing bad by leaving you - because it's better to help than to just cry and 'watch them die'. And lastly, when he says: 'And you can bet that when we mourn the death of you that night that they'll lay me on the dinner table and I will be the pig with the apple in my mouth, the food that celebrates your end. ' I think that he is saying that people do die or leave us, but it's better not to mourn for them to be happy for them and celebrate that they lived in the first place. Even though death is said and there is nothing wrong with crying, don't be sad all the time. Well, this may not be the right meaning but it's atleast mine. If you did read this comment, thanks! |
