Romeo and Juliet were teenagers, not only did they barely know one another, they knew nothing of romantic love. They were just horny. And if you throw in a reference to The Scarlet Letter you are citing adultery, no matter what it you might think it means. So that was pretty stupid on Swift's part. But it is a catchy and cute song. |
