as maynard says.. he is just 1/4 of the band... his lyrics will just be poetry without the music...its hard to interpret the right meaning just by looking at the lyrics...anyway, unlike other bands TOOL makes ART and interpretation would differ for each individual...nice arguments they have here(especially liked the "tufted titmouse" one)..if you are a maynard fan you would definitely know that pointing fingers is not a nice thing to do..

my 2 cents is it is clearly about what bill hicks said about drugs, i aint into it (but tried), it will let u know how stupid and sick the world has become , they are banning the very first thing (mushrooms) that constructed our society and slowly it is fading away because of greed, anyway bill hicks has the answer read his jokes its the funniest thing you will ever read/see/hear. it's funny because it is true.. |

wow!! years of threads in the making.. this only shows that tool have made us learn from each other(think of it like taking a 4-yr. college course), well ive finally figured it out.. before i was a fan of DREAM THEATER, because of their musical genius, but when i heard the emotion of one of maynards songs i got curious, DT is nothing compared to tool, not only it is intellectual metal but it is also what i would say "spiritual metal" (not in a Zappa/Hendrix way..) parabola.. i heard somwhere that the album is actually a puzzle or a "spiral" where the song lateralus is the middle of it, so technically the album is a divine code for the one who wants to seek wisdom, going back.. parabola is a mathemathical term for wtf i dont care, its part of the code.. reshuffle the album and remove the silent pauses at the end of each song, god i wish i know what kind of drugs they are taking they are mf beyond words..
*who the hell would incorporate math/algebra into metal, funny but this is a way to seperate a jack-of-all-trades to a Renaissance man..

for god's sake its not about a boy who is having a problem with "love"!! the meaning of this song is really BEYOND the obvious so again i'll just simply leave tidbits of what i think.. 3 libras accdng to the dictionary libra is somewhat related to a scale/weight or a platform of scale, there are three libras/scales in the song each with its own personification, basically have you even thought on how maynard changes emotion/tone/pitch when he sings different lines/verses..? have you even thought that this song was a conversation? the libras here from my point of view is goodness, evil and humanity/mankind/human nature.. basically dont believe in everything mjk says on whats the song about people, sometimes we have to think, its ART and its meant to be interpreted by an individuals eyes and mind.. from here everythings up to you...

(so that i would not be a complete imbecile i'll answer the question first) for me the meaning of the song is doing something and fighting for it 'til death. enough about that what mjk is trying to say/point out the faith of her mom, he actually is not cursing god, but i think i heard it somewhere that at the time her mother was paralyzed people were talking about her and said that god punished her thats why she had the car accident and let her live paralyzed, so basically mjk is cursing their god, i also think he wants people to realize not to leave everything to god (its not like im religous or something) and pray to him and only whine, some people are so stupid just because they heard "f*ck your christ" the song would be anti-christ,(i am personally be an anti-christ), christ here would mean "the savior" anyway its up to you to think about the rest |
