This song of course was writen by Trent reznor (of NIN).
This indecates the lies of religion (or the theists god), He wants to "believe" but know's its ultimitly a terriable lie.
Terriable in that its the number one cause of war, brought hatred, sexism, disscrimnation among much other terriable things.
A lie in that, well its just not true, their is not afterlife and perhaps it just better if society can accept death and truth. |

Anyway I think this song about relationships and how, well they seem to not go as well for one side and the other side isn’t about to take it, I Think...

This song is sometimes translated into the artist simply needing sexual release, but it's truly about the sexual frustrations he cannot overcome. Here’s another theory: It could represent the voice inside a rapist's head. "Help me get Away from myself" and "You can have my isolation" implies that after he rapes his victim he's willing to go to jail (isolation). The line, "You can have my absence of faith you can have my everything" means his whole life is gone once in prison. It is basically a song about an obsession that one cannot control.
But as noticed this song has different meaning to virtually everyone here, I can also say this song hardly has anything to do with religion or drugs. |

The Perfect Drug" originally appeared on the soundtrack for the David Lynch movie Lost Highway. In the movie itself, only a brief sample of the song was used,thats what it was maid for.
It portrays a despairing father (played by Reznor) who mourns a dead child in his gothic estate, losing himself in the consumption of absinthe.
Also Trent himself said "The Perfect Drug" was his least favourite creation. His reasons for this were the short production time and the "overblown" video. |

But This tori amos is the only NON Heavy Metal band I not only enjoy listening to but also love and agree with hear lyrics, and this song is one of the most great emotinal,smart and toughing songs of tori,she's a guiness. |
