Fantastic tune. The first part seems straight forward about slacking off when he should be writing his thesis paper about the Ninette Sanatorium in order to get his GF back. The last part seems like a daydream or perhaps wishful thinking that there will be a huge celebration when he completes his thesis. |

This song made me immediately think of On and On and On. Jeff Tweedy sings the verse in this song the similar to the way he sings the verse in "On and On and On" from Sky Blue Sky album. Weird. this song is great. best i can tell its about a young man and young woman who fall in love on a mountain. time passes and the man is older and comes back to reminisce and in the process 'lets her go' and goes back home to love his current wife and child. |

My Opinion: The person speaking is the Fan of some band. He/She explains the events that went down at a show. Then he/she goes home and is lonely but in order to feel better plays a song, not this song, but a song he/she heard at the show which reveals the frontman's loneliness and so the speaker can relate. Simply saying that even if you are a rock star and loved by everyone, you can still be just as lonely as the speaker in this song. Just my opinion. |

I agree mostly with what everyone has said. It's basically Virtue the cat describing what it was it was like when she "ran away" from home. I think the first four lines are her trying to explain what made her just take off. Then it talks about how she could hear her owner walking the streets "calling" for her or "singing the sound that you found for me". Then it goes on to describe how Virtue found a home in a noisy place, possibly a city or construction site. Virtue explains how she remembered waiting for her owner to bring home cat food and beer and then she would scratch the empty bottles to attract attention so her owner would "sing the sound" or simply communicate with her. Then Virtue recalls the things that made her happy which were fighting with local cats, having her fur brushed, kneading his chest, and sleeping on his chest. Then its really sad because it explains how Virtue has been gone from home so long she has forgotten the "sound that her owner found for her". Just my thoughts. |
