Oh, and he also says "Because we separate like ripples on a black shore." Man, the lyrics we have on here are totally wrong. |

He says "You are not to blame for bittersweet nostalgia," not 'distractors.' I'm not 100% positive about 'nostalgia' but I'm positive it isn't 'distractors.' |

| Bright Eyes – Four Winds Lyrics

I believe this song has something to do with New York. Four Winds = Four Burroughs, he references The Great Satan and the Whore of Babylon, which are both usually used when referring to great corrupt cities / countries. There is a Cassadaga, New York. Conor Oberst lived in New York for a while. This song inspires the feeling like one would get if you hopped around the country looking for a place to live but finding them all less than stellar, and in Oberst's typically melodramatic world this would make sense, at least to me. |

| The Shins – Phantom Limb Lyrics

Actually, this one is easy because James Mercer told us what it's about. In an interview with Billboard he mentioned that "['Phantom Limb'] is a hypothetical, fictional account of a young, lesbian couple in high school dealing with the shitty small town they live in."
Get it? Phantom Limb? Get it? Ok. He's clever as hell. |

| The Shins – Split Needles Lyrics

On the internet it sometimes looks as though information is passed around like everyone is playing the telephone game. :) There are numerous problems here... the first and most obvious is the title. It isn't "Split Needles," it's "Spilt Needles," as if a needle was dropped and all its contents spilled out. The lyrics are also incorrect in some places, the user ElvisAteMyDonuts posted the correct ones a couple posts above me. |
