I believe this song is about how William obviously has had many girls, and that he sees how that might scare this girl off that the song is written to. When she discovers his past, will she stay with him, trust in him? Sometimes when people start talking, it's hard to defend your decisions. "My good intentions Can leave the hardest hearts The harshest scars you've ever seen My bad impressions They will follow me Makin' enemies that I can't see" It's not that he wants to be a player, he has good intentions, but even though girls are left with broken hearts. This follows him, cos people often dislike you if you've had many partners. That's how it is with him. But so he continues to explain that he was alone until he found her. It wasn't love with the other girls, this time it is different. He promises to "help you find your way every moment you're awake", and that's one hell of a big promise. He's serious this time, and hopes that she'll see how him having had a lot of partners has nothing to do with his situation with her now. Love the meaning. I think it's very true. |

This song obviously has a connection to 'Beware! Cougar!' from the lines "When we met I was on my back. I swear we spent most afternoons Somewhere in the act." Hmm.. It doesn't really seem that it's the same girl as in the other song though. There she's too old for him, and here he's keeping a watchful eye out for her parents. This seems to be just a simple and fun relationship with no worries, in contrast to the one i mentioned with the older woman. This one comes with no obligations. And he would like it to stay that way forever. There may just be a connection from song to song on this record. I dont really know yet but i cant wait to find out first thing when it's released! This may lead over to the Summer Hair = Forever Young one. William just realized he's growing older you people :) |

I cant WAIT to hear this effing song in a few days! From the lyrics it seems this song is about a relationship built on sex (has never been anything else), which this young boy, appearantly william since he's twenty three this year, has been dragged into. And it seems to him that the older woman underestimates him and she doesn't believe in the relationship at all. She's just in it for the sex and doesn't picture a future where he is involved. He feels betrayed, even if he doesn't manage to convince himself that he regrets it. But still he sees where this is all going, she'll just continue to benefit on it while there is nothing in it for him, she takes him for granted and suddenly he's aware that she has had no reason not to until now. So he leaves without a scene. He will not reply to her if she tries to contact him. He's done wasting time, now moving on with his young life. |

I can't wait for the new album! I already like this song a lot. To me it seems that this song is about a boy who's cheating with this girl behind her boyfriend's and everyone else's back. He doesn't feel bad about it cos it feels so right for both of them, even if he knows that the tension because of the risk is a big part of it. Her boyfriend probably works all week or something so he doesn't have time for her then, but when he returns to her every friday she'll always be there to greet him cos when it all comes down to it she loves him, and this is the situation both the boy and the girl wants to be in. 'You know you're gonna miss this As long as you live When you were mine...' Probably the boy who's cheating saying that even if she leaves him to stay faithful to her boyfriend, she'll always remember and miss the excitement of being with this boy, breaking the rules, feeling the adrenaline, the spiced up sex. |

This song is nothing less but A-MA-ZING. It's hard to tell the exact story, but it does sound like a relationship that Gerard's in with this girl, but it just won't work, and one of the two is interested in getting more involved, while the other isn't. They fight all the time, and he knows that he really loves her but there is no way things will be okay. But neither of them has the courage to leave the other one back alone, so they'll just do the same thing tomorrow. This is what he can't take anymore. So if she wants him to stay, all she needs to do is pile up 1000 dead bodies. (= it's impossible, it'll never work out). But if she won't stay he'll kill her or both of them, cause eventually he loves her so he doesn't really want to be without her. He wants to celebrate the end of things when it comes to an end, cause it's causing them both pain. Hence the title Drowning Lessons, the relationship drags them both down. Without a sound he wishes her away. No feelings back, no memory to suffer from. |

This song is unlike any other song out there. It's so complete - so beautiful. It's like, when the song is finished, I just have to stop and think. How can someone make that? Write that, sing that, play that? And what makes it so unbelievable powerful is the fact that it's so damn real. Gerard wrote that stuff from the bottom of his heart, hence the note in the booklet. "To K: I'm sorry I wrote all that stuff about killing you, I hope the last song makes up for it." I have to disagree. I know it's a concept album and that what you said is true, but it could of course have a deeper meaning! And it does. I read a long interview with Matt Davies, singer, and he is obviously quite unhappy with his situation in life. Like, being in a rock band is not the best thing in the world, but it's his job. Matt misses his wife and wants to have kids in the future, and so he doesn't want to do this touring all the time. But as a frontman of a rock band, he "has" to. He actually said something like touring, i.e. being away from his home, his wife and his town, have almost ruined his love for music, and during the making of TDTT, he could spend so much time at home that he can't imagine what it would be like to miss all of that. Though, he says he loves to be onstage and stuff, but there are so many things he can't have. I feel sorry for Matt.. But it's his choice and FFAF make beautiful music, and I LOVE this song!! The concept of the album has to do with his angst for water, he does not come close to the beach and is almost frightened to death with the thought of having his head under water. |

I can relate to this, but I am actually on the other side of the story here.. It is really sad though. A boy sent me parts of these lyrics a while ago. He doesn't know himself anymore, and has to stand up against himself being some shitty ass rock dude. In the video the 'other him' comes out of the mirror, and he watches the other himself being really rude and cheap. And then, in the end, he ends up discovering the whole thing was on in his head. |

Gerard was in really great pain as he sang the song on the record, some guy working for the record company (Eyeball) had to punch him in the face to make him concentrate, according to Kerrang!. Then he did it all the first time they tried. One day i WILL figure out the whispering.. Seriously. You shouldn't feel like you're welcome to make this song about something it's not. Everybody here knows it's about 9-11, dude. Gerard has said it. There's no doubt. Got it? On the other hand, I believe we find some of My Chem's all-time most amazing lyrics on this song, and it's their first one!! That is almost hard to believe if you are a random person, but Gerard is such and admirable human being. "It reaches in and tears your flesh apart like ice cold hands rip into your heart! That's if you still got one that's left inside that cave you call a chest" Those three lines. After my opinion the best lines MCR has ever done, maybe next to Gerard's own favourites which are from Out lady of sorrows. "Oh how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying" Also amazing. It feels like he's almost making up new words. He's giving them a whole new meaning. They make sense. I have both Three Cheers and The Black Parade, so don't worry I don't only download. And so you know, I'm VERY very happy with both of them. This may be a little hard to understand, but I can easily feel how incredible much more My Chem means to me than all the other bands I have been listening to. I think the deal about the fans makes a whole lot of sense, but since Gerard has said it is about pregnancy I guess that has to be it. Love the beat of the song and also the lyrics. I can say I'm a fan, and I don't think anything in the world would make me more proud right now but confirming that to anybody who wonders and cares. Because Gerard Way is such a talented man, I admire him so much not just because he's beautiful, but for his awesome work.. But I am not trying to give him all the honour, I know especially Frank and Ray makes a great difference to his lyrics and the melodies he wants to use. I am sure the band will keep going further and higher as I grow older. I just know, they are so different, they mean so incredible much to so many people, included me. Helena is not a new song anymore, but such a beautiful and moving one, I love it, love it so much. And they are anything but zombies... They just dare so much more than any of us probably have ever done or will ever do.. God, I wish I could go to a concert tomorrow and live life the way Gerard tells us to in Famous Last Words.. Sorry about that first chorus there, it was supposed to be "Honey if YOU stay" like in the other ones. I always thought they sang "Awake and done afraid", like if he wouldn't even say the words if he was afriad of someone that perhaps threatened him. Well well, they don't. I have to say this is an amazing song, and the last few lines when you only hear Gerards voice... My heart bumps fast, I'll tell you. And when he finishes the whole masterpiece of a record with "HOME" I feel like wanting to FLY, he is such an admirable person... And to those wondering, this WILL be the next single off the cd!!:D:D And then again Disenchanted for some reason, good song but personally I find many of the songs on The Black Parade way better. |

When he says "Cause I'm awful just to see", he means like he is awful to look at, so that there is no doubt about that.. There is no way it could've been "I'm awful just to think". On the other hand, I LOVE the song... So brutal in one way, but so tender in another... Gerard Way IS a genius.
