Every sick, fickle fucker Childhood's what makes ya Till they treat ya like tundra Childhood is everything, until they start to ignore you, and give you the cold shoulder. Weigh those opinions More like air than lead your opinions mean nothing, no matter how heavy you like to make them seem. To others they will mean nothing. Every planned occupation Surefire disappointment up ahead Till they treat ya like desert See mirages of friendship, face turns read You try and set up what you want to do in the future, and give your hopes up on it, but you will more than likely be disappointed and not get what you expected. The friendships you had are all gone now, and you are embarrassed... It's not what you wanted it to be. Here's the soon to be anchor not really sure what this one means Build bridges to nothing, you'll get nowhere Your building your way to your future, but you have to make sure of what you want your future to be before you start getting yourself somewhere. Kind of like people who go to school just because they have to and then end up not doing anything with their life? Every governor's mother knows That their bread is buttered by Sam The ones that work in the government are being buttered up by the big guys so they don't have any problems to worry about. And what about science? they find proof and let you make your own decisions Guess this one explains itself. Every childstar wonders If they have a future up ahead Yeah sure, their big now, but what about in the future? Are they aiming for any goals in the future or just for now and then later they have no idea what they will be doing? Every kindhearted banker I don't think there is one If your dealing with money all day... how could you actually be nice.. your swimming in a pool of cash exchanges and you can't really be kind to some one and pay off their debts or do a good deed involving cash without risking your job, now can you? Just my interpretation of the song... The last two lines I don't really understand.. |

| I agree as well. This song does sound a lot like it's about him coming down from a drug and telling other people they will come down soon as well, as in sober up. He had a drink, had things to say, and started talking about coming down. The rest of the meaning I'm not too sure of, but I agree with a lot of the things others have said. | |

"The Devil's apprentice he gave me some credit He fed me a line and I'll probably regret it I don't want you to be alone down there" This makes me think of a dealer giving him something, probably coke since he's referring to a line. He may mean that he doesn't want his friend to go down alone, so he's going to go down with him in this addiction? Meh... Modest Mouse is the best, you really have to think with their songs, and that's what I love! |

| Is it just me or is this song describing a shroom trip? | |
