i guess i'm the only one who thought this... but to me it seems like this song is a giant metaphor for the end of 80s hardcore, like it was the end of a huge party and when it's all over, everyone's had their lives turned upside down and it's all fucked up and now that it's all over, there's nothing else to do and nowhere else to go. and obviously there's the political references in the 2nd half, but i just thought i'd acknowledge my theory on the first half. i love this song and NOFX too. i wish they still played some ska songs. the new live album is amazing for anyone that hasn't heard it i highly recomend it |

It's about the guy, and just a guess but i think he's talking to an ex girlfriend or something. He's telling her that he can't stop remembering all the shit that they did together, and that he doesn't want her to forget it, because it wasn't something that's worth forgetting. It was a big enough deal to remember because it there was probably something to it. And most of all, he doesn't want her to forget him. |

this song does have alot of symbolism and metaphors and shit, but the meaning behind them is pretty simple. its obviously about a guy and a girl, and what i think is that this guy fell for the girl, but she's just not having it, and he's just been trying and trying to talk to her about it, hence the line about walking on the same sidewalks, because its the same old thing again and again. and if it doesn't work out this time, he isn't staying around town, he's leaving, but he wants the girl to leave with him. it always reminds me of my ex. she's a really great girl, and i now consider her my best friend. it kind of reminds me of what i went through to get her to date me. i generally try to avoid that drama shit, but sometimes its unavoidable |
