| System of a Down – Forest Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Just listening to this song and decided that it was taken from God Emperor of Dune, the old sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. Anyone familiar with ithe book can easily see the similarities. Lord Leto sees everyone as his children that he is busy teaching about life [walk with me my little child], and is always speaking with the inner beings that possess him [speak with me my only mind]; often enough they talk of the old days of Dune, when the Fremen wished the the endless deserts to turn to something abundant like forests. But in the current timeline, no one looks up to Leto, even though he has steered humanity in his own way and continues to do so, even though everyone is wishing that Dune revert back to the endless sands [make the forest turn to sand]. He also makes it known to everyone that he embodies countless entities [tell everyone in the world that I'm you] and of course he has become the legendary God Emperor who has ruled thousands of years and all the while banning convenient devices [no televisions in the air] and ancient practices [no circumcisions on the chair]. And now, *SPOILER ALERT* because at the end of the book you see the legend take a fall because he falls from a high cliff into water and dies, but not before making countless weapons through the children of Duncan and Siona [you make the weapons for us all]. And not that I'm disregarding the knowledge that System of a Down is very political and this could very well be about the modern world, but you have to remember that they are pretty freaking cracked-out too, so reading some crazy trippy book would probably appeal to them in such a mental state. I mean, everything seems to fit the book. And it's a good read too, so you might see what I'm talking about if you've read the book. That's my two bits. | |
