Ill be honest pt mcb, when I read your post I thought you were missing a few shingles from your rooftop, but I reread the lyrics and it fits amazingly...Im still not convinced though. The song just doesnt have a political feel to me, it seems more personal. Which is why Im leaning towards the ex-band mate theory someone threw out earlier, that its about a former bandmate they kicked out a few years ago or something. It sounds like he was a druggy that caused problems because of his addiction. The lines "I'm over my head I need a pick-me-up" and "So take another hit, steal another line" draw strong parallels between music and cocaine. The only thing that really throws me off is the sharing spit line, I cant get that to fit into anything but a clingy groupy, assuming Brandon doesnt make out with his band mates, which would be kind of f**ked up. I really dont like the idea that this song is about a groupy though. The way Brandon comes across in this song is so cold and angry that I feel like the humanitity and love for human nature and free spirit (like in Warning) that he conveys in other songs would be BS if he hops on this song and completely tears apart some girl who's only fault is liking him and/or incubus too much and getting attached. I mean, thats annoying, but its not something you get real upset about, if I may make the comparison, its like Jay-Z said "Gon brush shoulders off" |
