| Gym Class Heroes – 7 Weeks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| alright, we've established who hates this song and why and who loves this song and why, perfect. The song meaning, pretty much undetermined. To me, this song is a testiment to the trials and tribulations of the road, and their weird, backward reasoning for loving it. Having to go a week without changing clothes based on the sheer hecticity of tour life. Sleeping on a moving bus, going from city to city. Meeting these original people along the wayand completely falling in love with the life. Beautifully written and worded. The chorus has the most amazing interlink between all the verses, it pretty much locks the song into a mass of music. | |
| Cursive – Driftwood: A Fairy Tale Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ofcourse its a parallel to pinnochio, but thats not the depth of what the singer is trying to create. I think its about a man and his mistress. He holds onto her with his gifts and his kisses, but she knows shes just runner up to his wife. The wife finds out about the mistress and the husband/adulterer is cast out (into the ocean.) | |
| The Academy Is... – The Phrase That Pays Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the beginning is his sister/brother/parents packing up his things for his trip to the hospital and his not being able to cope with this meaning. The song is his singing to a sibling about not taking life for granted as he did, he's telling them to live their life in his honor, to remember his neglegtion of the most important things in life and not to live like that. | |
| The Academy Is... – Checkmarks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the beginning is explaining to everyone how she used him whenever it was convenient for her. She was the controller of the situation and he was just a pawn, or checkmark. The prechorus says she hopes he doesnt think the wrong thing and take their little fling to another level. The discretion of their encounter is what she's gonna use to keep him as a fuckbuddy but continue to have her other checkmarks. In the beginning of the song he was a nobody and a nothing, just another face in a crowd. The chorus can be interpreted in a literal sense as her leaving him for good, of him forgetting about him, but i think porcelinsoliloguy had it right with the head thing. the second verse is afterward, her telling him it was fun but shes not ready for such a commitment. Shes got alot of things going on in her life and she just cant be bothered with a relationship. He understands his position in her life and not to bother with the niceties. the third verse is his making it big and her wanting to be a part of his life, but him telling her she got exactly what she deserved and that they can never be together again, theyve grown apart so much that theyve got nothing in common. | |
| The Academy Is... – Slow Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| its definitely about a relationship, but ithink it takes you through the progression of the relationship... the first verse being their meeting, their "falling in love", and his want to be out of the relationship. the chorus being about her trying to change him into some kind of a subrurban dad with a nine to five and three mouths to feed. Between the choruses (the second verse?) theyve broken up, and although its something he wanted hes still turned very spiteful toward her, imaginging her to have pretended the entire time through their farse of a relationship. The break between choruses (now im not saying im not breaking hearts tongith girl) is his overobsession with this girl he never really cared about and his trying to make her jealous by rubbing her face in the fact that hes seeing other girls, and the last "alright alright slow down" is her telling him to back off because shes happy with her decision, the last chorus is his realization that hes happy with the split too and goes on with his life unabided. | |
| Panic! at the Disco – London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i know it was a while ago, but killstar has no idea what theyre talking about. I'm not one of those "scene" kids, i have listened to taking back sunday way before they were the big that theyve become, ive listened to panic at the disco before they had their big break on mtv, ive listened to fallout boy before they were "teenage heart throbs", and i know no matter how scene panic becomes they're never gonna trash on their fans and the people that mae them. Frankly I'm tired of hearing about "scene" and how theyve sold out. Under the same circumstances millions of professional athletes "sellout", and billions of regular americans "sellout" to keep a roof over there head. So basically to avoid "selling out" you'll live in a trashcan and eat trash... such a horrible life, but youve avoided becoming "scene." mission accomplished fuckface. Anyway, they say "well we're just a wetdream for the webzines, make us it make us hip, make us scene or shrug us off our shoulders dont approve a single word that we wrote." theyre referring to the media, the guys writing their reviews. They can build them up to something more than they are... praise them and tell everyone what a great band they are, or they can say "its a fallout boy reincarne. It doesnt matter to p!atd because they know their "scene" fans will like their music if they like their music, not because of what everyones saying about their mediocre guitarist or anal vocalist. It's really a beautiful song and whether the song title has anything to do with pinkfloyd or chuck palahniuk or anything else its a magnificent name for the kind of song this is. it is a song not so written about machines, but it is about money. its about making money, its about doing everything they have to to please the fans, and its also a little jab at brandond flowers, ballsy move for the new kids on the block (not the band, their status in the "scene" world. | |
| The Forecast – Seating Subject to Availability Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i cant believe the forecast has such a limited amount of fans... theyre much better than society gives them credit for. Anyway, this song's about touring on the road, but losing a band member to something better, namely a family. | |
| The Blood Brothers – Peacock Skeleton with Crooked Feathers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The peacock represents a conscience. The evil in the world is caused by the "peacock on your shoulder", telling you what to do and how to do it. The peacock shows a happy, whimsical side at times and an evil, destory everything side at times but in essence is the same thing all of the time... evil. The peacock can be bruises or roses, but it is always causing death and destruction in the world. It may look beautiful, but its really a beuatiful disaster. As far as the meaning of the entire song, i think its just taking you through the levels the "peacock" has. It can destroy family and friends, as well as companies and entire countries. It can take your first born or it can take your job... the peacock isnt biased. the only thing it wont do is save your life... the meaning reminds me alot of "ambulance vs. ambulance." | |
| The Blood Brothers – Doctor! Doctor! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the "Its time to take that cash back to the bank and count how much you really make. pennies, doctor, pennies." is a statement on how fucked up their conscience has to feel after changing all of these people to help them fit in to the spotlight. most people would be fine in the publics eye, but not in the spotlight... so they get their cheeks shave down to not look so "slaviic". i had a point, but i forgot what it was. read "invisible monsters", its an amazing book about reverse surgery. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics | 19 years ago |

this song has a diversity of aspects to look at it from and i think thats why mcr has such a diverse group of fans... because you can look at alot of their songs from different angles. one aspect would be the character in this song has gone to war, had some kind of travisty happen to him during the war, and is on the brink of extinction due to said travisty. He's lost a leg and his tongue to infection and perhaps he knwos he wont survive through the rest and is apologizing to his mother and his lover, but not really showing remorse for doing the things hes done. He knows he's going to hell for the unmentionables he's done while serving his country, but he feels everything hes done has been warranted and has no regrets. |

| The Blood Brothers – Marooned on Piano Island Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this is one of the songs from the "piano island" epilogue. The "girl with eight inch fingers" is his wife and the piano island that she's lead him to where beautiful music is supposed to play all the time and everything supposed to be very peaceful serene and quiet is actually a family, a wife, a job, and all the things the man on piano island wanted to avoid. shes, in reality, a tropical beauty, but having done this to him he sees her as nothing more than a gruesome deformity he wants to be rid of but, as he said before, hes stuck on that island forever... without a prayer. | |

| Panic! at the Disco – Time to Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
the entire song is a reference to the Chuck Palahniuk book "invinsible monsters." there isnt one lyric that doesnt coalesque with the book. Well she's not bleeding on the ballroom floor just for the attention cuz thats just ridiculous...ly on- That refers to the beginning of the book where brandy's been shot and is lying on the floor bleeding to death via a rifle. heres the setting, fashion magazines line the walls now the walls line the bullet holes- the main characters half face is what this is speaking of. She was a fashion model, that was her life, until she was shot through the face and left without a career or a hope. have some composure, where is your posture? youre pulling the trigger, pulling the trigger all wrong- Brandys constant analysis of the main character and Brandys need for perfection. give me envy give me malice give me your attention baby gimme a break- envy, malice, attention... those are the main plots of the story. everyone in the book needs attention in some way, except the main character who has learned to accept her invisibility. thats also a theme in the book, but is broken with *flash* when i say shotgun you say wedding shotgun wedding shotgun wedding- the beginning of the story, evie cotrells wedding is perturbed by her shooting brandy alexander, although she uses a rifle but you.get.the.picture. well she didnt choose this role but she'll play it and make it sincere so you cry you cry- the main character and her ex-husband both have to continually change their name and their [osition in life based on brandys whim. Also the main characters jaw being blown off wasnt her choice, but she lives with it and doesnt see plastic surgery to be an option. but they believe it from the tears and the teeth right down to the blood at her feet- this could be in reference to the main character being by brandy while shes dying or to brandy herself. boys will be boys hiding in estrogen and wearing aubergine dreams- Brandy had been known as shane for most of her life, but thanks to plastic surgery and estrogen pills she's become brandy alexander. Her makeup of choice, "aubergine dreams" come on this is screaming photo op- all of the characters are looking for ways to get in front of the camera, and even at important intervals such as death they still wanna be the center of attention. thast the analysis of this song, it is completely based on the book invisible monsters, and if you havent read the book already you really should, its got a severely different point of view and has alot of plot points that come together in the end. |
