Interpol – Public Pervert Lyrics 18 years ago
ahh that makes more sense than anything else.sex outside=public pervert.it all makes sense now...

"The flying, the metal,
the turning above
these are just ways to be seen"
i dont know if anyone else sees it but lines like these remind me of the movie donnie darko and his time travel stuff.and how when, in the beginning of the movie, it all happened to him where he escaped his death, it was a way for him to be seen.to continue his life.

"If time is a vessel, then learning to love
Might be my way back to sea"
time was donnie's vessel and when he was able to continue his life and not die, he was able to love.

"We all get paid
Yeah some get faith before they die
Then through stars we will navigate
Through the holes in your eyes"
i feel this in connection to the strong religious influence that is given in the movie.the character patrick swayze plays.
again, the stars part.time travel, light years and the cosmos' effect on us maybe? so swoon baby starry nights...

"How many days will it take to land?
How many ways to reach abandon?
Oh, abandon"
how many days will it take for the plane to crash again and kill him? it took approximately a month and he was counting down...to abandon.abandon his life again.

but the sex outside makes more sense to me.

i just couldnt ignore the donnie darko references i saw lol...

Interpol – Who Do You Think? Lyrics 18 years ago
oh and JUDOAPPLES, you just got me.
Our Love to Admire.
i have wondered why it was titled that and you just made it very clear to me.
i thought it was Our Love, as in the bands love.
but i take it he means him and his girlfriend.

Interpol – Who Do You Think? Lyrics 18 years ago
oui this is a tricky song. and fuck, yeah of course i thought of him just in a street man to man fight but as the lyrics progress i got the strange notion that maybe in a physical fight with his girlfriend?
he has been getting pretty crazy lately.

or the schizophrenia type thing makes sense too.
"who do you think that is there"possibly looking into the mirror, which now, btw reminds me of NYC in which he talks about seven faces he has and again in one of the songs off this album, i think mammoth or pace is the trick though i think its mammoth where he mentions seven aching faces or something...split personalities and what not.again he doesnt know which one he is when he looks in the mirror?

ah i love this website.

Interpol – Rest My Chemistry Lyrics 18 years ago
hey frnzferevolution yeah i do get what you mean. and reading it over it can mean something else.
though i'm more thansure he means cocaine, atleast due to the other black and white references to drug usein some of the other songs off Our Love to Admire.

lines they go, likelines you say to someone.not necessarily a pick up line but just a sentence.
and the chemistry part like someone said.when you connect with someone, you call it Chemistry so rest one's chemistry...i get it but i think i'mma stick to the cocaine ...

emmatrank, thats what i think he means.3 different things to say yes to.

mhmm,i too feel he means a girl a young girl yes.but more so mentally?

and the daisy in my lazy eyes part.well ive never been on coke, or drank but people always say that other people look more attractive to them when they're drunk.does coke have similar effects? if so, well im not saying its that but some food for thought? maybe its just a line...

aha.my bad.

Interpol – All Fired Up Lyrics 18 years ago
ahhh you last few commentors got me!!! it almost exactly what i was thinking about.

with the first two lines, draped in wires and leaning on the brakes though i got a different image.
when someone wants to hotwire a car?oui, they climb head first into the bottom shaft of the car on the inside right? open that compartment or whatever it is they do and wires are exposed.hence, having trouble doing the deed and possibly 'leaning on the brakes'?

the next couple of lines i take as pulling someone into a drug scene.i completely get your explanation lori lee.but at first what i got from it is that it can just be simply a room or venue full of people all high off of one things or another.filled with all kinds of dark activity and people who do those activities.but i think your makes more sense on a massive level, lori.this is just what it means to me...

i take it as he's happy to expose this pure naive person to this world and he sees em fall.maybe in a good way (getting high, succombing to this life) or literally just falling and breaking a part themselves.well i mean both are bad right, but destruction is in the eye of the beholder right ..."death's desire".

and witnessing this gets him all fired up.for being able to push someone into this so easily.manipulation. you practically get off on it.and now he/she's all his. i do agree with all the manipulation talk.

talkingflower, you are SO right.your mind just AH goes in circles just listening to him.he has an amazing way with words.

Interpol – Mammoth Lyrics 18 years ago
i think this is about cheating possibly. i am really fond of that knocked up idea though.

or like infidelity or loss of loyalty of some sort.
and
i do think the seven faces can possibly be a reference to NYC. seven sides of him and whichever side he looks at his situation from, they all feel the same?

The Smiths – Death of a Disco Dancer Lyrics 18 years ago
oh and my main point was that it felt like the perfect music, the perfect soundtrack cause at the time my friend and i kept looking at eachother from across the room and she knew i was pretty gone and we both kept laughing...she tried it for the first time too and we know its bad but it feels so good.
hence was i was talking about, the death of what we were the death of ourselves.

out with the old, in with the new.

oh wow i really never considered those interpretations..well i dont really know much about the 80s ..

my take on it though is a bit more obvious straightforward though, i think....
i was pretty high the other day and my mind was spinning around rather quickly.
i was listening to this song at the time and it came to me as the death of something beautiful and somewhat untouched,
no one could ever imagine the idea of me abusing drugs and going off into this dark world.i was thought of a rather clean cut and positive
but now i really love morrissey's line,"and if you think peace is a common goal that goes to show how little you know...."
and it was what was going through my mind at the time,"love peace and harmony (the effect of the substance) very nice very nice (how i felt about it) maybe in the next world" (being off somewhere else mentally)
the death, everything i used to be and used to think,
gone.
and the neighbor part, yeah i'd rather not get involved too. i dont really go out of my way for strangers anymore.
"it happens alot round here"
that, yeah.this whole new found pleasure is catching on, to people who were once so....pure....

and plainly the beat of the music, the drums go well with what you're feeling inside.perfect song to the moment.

...little random but thats my take ....

Blondie – Hanging on the Telephone Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with super_serial and i'd like to add how it also shoots obsessive vibes. "if you dont answer i'll just ring it off the wall"
you know when you're really obsessed about a guy and you call and call .. or since she probably doesnt get along with the mother, something happened "all those things she said i told you to ignore".so she keeps ringing and ringing him..etc.=] i love blondie.

i agree with Spidery. i say its about a girl who maybe was in some type of abusive relationship? or with a man who wasnt neccessarily good to her. or a guy she broke up with, or the other way around which ever "theres no tears in her eyes"...

"you better hit her".

i love that line though.
and yeah that "bye bye b-b-b-bye bye bye baby awwwwwwwwwwwww"
lovely.

Television – Marquee Moon Lyrics 18 years ago
pure poetry.and i agree with bkat004, that lyric "lightning struck itself". oh love. i think we all can recall that.

oh i took the phrase marquee moon as night after night. isnt marquee like sort of .. well one of the definitions says its a "permanent canopy often of metal and glass..." or like those signs at the entrance of some arena that displays the performers.
Or a title given to a headliner.like at a concert.a really popular person.
i thought it had meant recurring moon .. as in the moon just seems to be constantly passing by as in its always nighttime.
=/

Well!

John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics 19 years ago
after reading a few pages .. i still believe Lennon was communistic in essence. i do not label myself as such but i do feel it is a good idea. i dont know why so many of you despise it anyway; its this, its that, when democracy is flawed as well. sure i agree with fundamental democratic ideals in which everyone basically earns their spot in society but sometimes, you realize there are things you shouldnt have to deal with that are taken care of with communism. there are holes in and out through democracy. some people take their respect, they pay for it. what options is the common man left with? but what if the occurrence of a caste system was eliminated? greed wouldnt not be present because everyone gets the same.

at first i would say, "no no .. i love earning my way and its made me who i am .." but who says you still cant in a socialist environment? respect is a whole other ball game, that isnt distributed; you can still achieve that.

but ever since the 50s and 60s, people have undoubtedly slandered communism and have done very bad things toward it in the name of democracy.and because of that, over the years, people haev been so scarrred by its cause and effect that they no longer bother to ask or consider it.

at such a frustrated time in America, there is no better time to revive communism ideals as a GOVERNMENT, and not just a dream, and awaken people to a new society.

and to whoever said its about anarchy .. i dont think it can be so. yes, no religion, no possesion, politics, etc but if you leave people to fend for themselves, you fall into chaos. if all people had good intentions then yes, anarchy would be a good thing but for the current state of the modern world, its not a good idea. its bad enough during democracy.
