i think he's depressed (big surprise, i know) about losing his girl. he wants to go to the to the studio with all its "solid state technology" and get it all out through music , but its not working out (hence all the tapes on the floor- failures at recording anything good) now he's wasted time and money because studio time is expensive. this sucks cause all he wanted to do was get his feelings out. since his musical therapy didn't work, he decides to get high (probably heroin- i think hes swabbing his arm with a cotton ball) and he's drinking in the meantime. it make his eyes red (both the high and the crying, perhaps), and he's blue cause he's sad. the whole episode is expensive both monetarily and emotionally (hence drugs we cant afford) all this happened and all he wanted to do was get out how much he missed his girl |

theres something about an angel that just kills me- i keep hoping something will. if that doesn't want to make you just impale yourself on a dull butterknife. also, "It's good for everybody to hurt somebody once in a while The things I do to people I love shouldn't be allowed." what lyrics. seriously, im gonna go hurt myself now |

ok, what the hell do i know, but here goes... i think this song is about death. hes almost mad at someone for dying while he loved her. i also think his friends didn't understand this love and tried to talk him out of it. "i could have treated you better, you couldn't... worse" means: he would have been nicer to her had he known she was gonna go and DIE on him (which is the WORST thing she could do to someone she loves) "sometimes i feel i know strangers...than my friends" means: his friends dont understand this love. they ridicule it (throw stones- become enemies) "why must a beginning be the means to an end" means: why did i fall in love with you when you were only going to die and since she's dead: -they've witnessed the final setting sun -distant churchbells no longer ring (no wedding, only funeral) -she takes his heart when she goes -she is his queen (hence tears from a king) the last verse is on her deathbed. hes holding her close. she's dying, but if they believe (in the afterlife, God etc.) then their love will go on forever. after she dies, hes consoled by "friends" with roses. could also be the roses thrown on her coffin before the dirt and...stones? |
