| And the recurring themes of existentialism also found in Moonlight. | |

Lyrics seem like an agnostic view on life. An acceptance of uncertainty and also the only thing known is that "descent is all there truly ever is." Firstly, denouncing a religious view of heaven and hell while moving on to describe a different kind of descent, whether it be civilization or a single life on earth. Don't have much time right now to elaborate but a great song, love the recurring theme of an archaeological look on the past. Reminds me of Turn Soonest To The Sea. |

I think this is right, I just edited it. Thanks. I'm not quite sure about this part though: Buckle up and wonder, keep watching the skies Pucker up and flounder in the blink of an eye |

What about the hospital in LA? Took me a pack to get through that night (or You took me back after that night) What about that blackened image in my mind? I swear I'll burn with a new light What about that frozen dripping holiday burn that's cold. |

Song is definitely about cigarettes. And the one part is: Try to remember that she hates you And though she might elate you She tries to kill the great that's in you now. When I thought the song was about a girl I thought he was saying violate in a positive way (sex). But it makes more sense like this. |

Been awhile since I checked back here eh lol. MissNeutrotic, I think he is straight edge but I don't think he's always been. I mean he could be talking about himself in a way that he's changed since those days but still sees others who "prescribe to the mediocre life." And aardvark, I like your perspective on it. He could be speaking both literally and figuratively. I'm feeling it's more about those who just don't live up to their potential, there's so much they can do but they choose a mediocre life. And some of the consequences from that life affect the lives of their friends/family. |

| Talib Kweli – Ms Hill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's called a sample you jackass. Fits with the song and really makes it whole, I don't see anything wrong with that. | |
| Akon – Don't Matter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Btw. If you've heard both this and R Kelly's Ignition, yet still think certain parts do not sound the same, you are retarded. | |
| Akon – Don't Matter Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is about the man that Akon loves. Here, he is fighting against the forces that be, trying to hold a homosexual black man down. "Fight for for right to love, yeah!" Puttin' girls before you And they watchin' everything I been doin' just to hurt you Most of it just ain't true(Ain't true) And they won't show you How much of a queen you are to me And why I love you baby |

| Rise Against – Generation Lost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with both of you. It's just history repeating itself. And it's true. These lyrics could apply to many wars, and many other things a person can fight for. | |

It's about drinkin, drugs ect. "living a mediocre life" What I wanna know is since Tim's lyrics are usually observing others, does he just write this way and the songs are actually criticizing himself? Or are the songs actually criticizing others. Don't get me wrong, the music is amazing either way, but that would be somewhat hypocitical considering some of the lines in "Six Ways Til Sunday" btw, I've always thought a lot of the lyrics (not all of course) are actually about himself, but written in a different perspective. |
