I came up with the idea that this is a "holy trip" an epiphany if you will. He came up with the idea that the problem is that he has taken far to much trying to find another holy experience. When they describe someone as "standing above the croud" with a voice that was "strong and loud" and Bill Hicks was a comedian...WHO DO YOU THINK IT WAS ABOUT? Perhaps the meaning of the song is about poeple who think they are better than others and don't really have any reason or experience through what others may be going through. They just watch over people feeling superior. Marijuana may just be the example. |

And one is about giving birth. Because the line off lateralus "black then white are all I see in my infancy, red and yellow then came to be" could be refering to either. When you are born the first colors you see are black and white, then (you geussed it) red and yellow. That also applies to LSD trips. Im not saying thats the full meaning behind lateralus however the spiral is refering to the "polar unity spiral" seen during LSD trips. Sorry for this rant however (back to THIS song) Tool is probably just showing the similarity between awakening the body, and awakening the mind. |

My earlier message was refering to the symbol for 10,000 days and lateralus. It was saying how it is strange that the Lateralus eyeball is a red and yellow flaming eyeball because of the line "red and yellow then came to be". And then the 10,000 days eyeball is this black and white eyeball because of the line "black and white are all I see...". I understand thats true, black and white, then red and yellow applyies to birth, and LSD trips and even temporary color blindness. I am just wondering WHY the eyeball for 10,000 days is black and white. Wouldnt it make more sense to put the black and white one out for the FIRST album and then red and yellow for the second? |

Hey did anybody else notice in the cover for 10,000 days the eyeball changed? You might not have thought much of it but notice in the cover their is a flaming polar unity spiral coming out of the figures heart and mind, and then later you see one of metal pins that look similar to the eyeballs. The eyeballs on lateralus, however, were flaming "red and yellow" and the eyeballs on 10,000 days are "black and white". I promise you I shall look into this some more...check it out for youreself |

I agree with arethemad, Maynard is the best songwriter these days (ever in my opinion). But the other band members deserve credit as well. And I also agree that LA is proabaly just the major focus on all the shit these days, and when its flushed away we will have one less shit hole to worry about.
