| Lifehouse – Only One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If it's about God, its a much less original song than otherwise. I mean how many songs out there are about God being there for you. The entire Christian rock genre sends that message. Maybe it is but I love this CD and I would definitely rather think of it all relating to the one girl. If that’s the case its that jealousy and even admiration of her being constant and not having to adapt to him, and the power she has in bending him. By that point in a relationship, when its over and you feel like you have had to sacrifice everything, and you still care for the person... Its that awful, but beautiful realization of how strong the other person is, and how their being obstinate suits them and further protects them. Any old band can write a song about god being there. Since I happen to really like the cd I'm going to hope that the song is the recognition that "the same traits that ended the relationship are part of what drew you in, in the first place". | |

whomever submitted the lyrics got a small bit wrong, just correcting "And all our best laid plans; they crumbled in our hands. Our flags fell where they'd fanned. You held in your breath, Long after projections of death you sat in the waiting room gasping and rasped on dry land." |

Here are the actual lyrics to the song... I own the cd and therefore the lyrics on the booklet provided therein. The deer and the antelope at play, The hiccup of the telephone wires, Birds tossed in and out of the fray, Clouds rush in then lose focus. Afraid if he drops his glance into this room, might just stare a hole clear through.... like a thumb pushed into the paper mache grizzly that rides the parade. Pale, green light vibrates across the Abraham Lincoln. Cursive spins beneath his chin. And not to pass a weary judgement over the deer and the antelope at play, over the boys swapping licks and the girls folding papers into clipper ships. When they've wandered from the parade route and the room fills with aquarium light... Cursive in a tangle on the wall and the grizzly lies in deep slumber. And from the cold places behind the Abraham Lincoln where the wallpaper will not fade... Magnolias pressed sharp against the pink and from the dark he hears the deer and the antelope at play.... the clicking of their heels. Pale, green light vibrates across the Abraham Lincoln, over the boys swapping licks and the girls spinning cursive across clipper ships. Those are the correct lyrics according to the booklet the band published with the cd... |
