Perhaps it's about giving into to death & not forcing forward with life. Basically letting death win & take him. The song contains strong emotions of bitterness, anger & maybe even hatred. Maybe he (I'm guessing Scott) built himself up with lies & died dishonest, hence the lines (And it's just what you wanted To be dead and dishonest) He wanted to be remembered as something he wasn't.
