I think the song is about love between humanity, not two individuals. We let religion tear us apart, and yet, we don't actually listen to the messages religion teaches us about love when we go to war and support bigotry ("does it feel like somethings missing?") Beneath the stairs is used to refer the servants/slaves that lived in people's basements or skeletons-in-your-closet secrets. |

When I look at the lyrics, it reminds me of someone waiting in a hospital room for someone to recover. Then, it seems like whoever is waiting wakes up one day thinking they're ready to go, but the other person is dead (or maybe just in a coma). The Sun awakening is just the person's soul reaching the person waiting. When I watched the video, I was certain that last boy fell off the cliff. It seemed like those other children were only part of a dream. They arrived there when he was sleeping and left when he woke. He tried to keep up with his dream but it left him, yet it still managed to float on without him. Your dreams never die I guess.. ? Which reminds of that one boy who recently died that hoped everyone could one day be fed. Even though he's gone, his soul and dreams are still carried on by others, which kind of goes back to what I first said. |

| I think the song could have two views. One would be when you're alive, you should appreciate the people who love you because you won't be with them forever. If there is a heaven we all go to, then I think the song could be saying that you shouldn't be afraid to die because you'll find a greater life on the other side. But the way the song sounds doesn't really fit this meaning, for me. It gives me the sense that you've moved on from a life you loved, but didn't want to leave because you were comfortable with it. And now that you're moving on, you realize how good life is. | |

some of it i hear but the line before "you shine for love" i hear "youre not alone" or "youre not at all" and your "you shine for love/you love.../your heart" i hear your shine follows, he realizes, (something that doesnt sound like "your heart") and then he'll know not who knows |
