| Glassjaw – Pretty Lush Lyrics
|
As much as I can respect a straight edge kid for their restraint, to say it is for life is completely moronic. A person is straight edge until they decide they are no longer and there is nothing wrong with that.
Personally I think as you mature being able to practice self-control and self-awareness is much more powerful than avoidance and denial.
Also, Daryl isn't a misogynist because he uses the word whore and wrote some violent lyrics. To think otherwise is perceiving aggression in music as hypersensitive as possible. Perhaps the soothing sounds of waves crashing better suits you. |

| Freelance Whales – Broken Horse Lyrics
|
I think KuroYume said it best when they described the song as "comparing the freedom and stubborness of a horse to a person in the relationship."
That hits the nail on the head and drewskiseph then later confirmed this by saying at the concert they prefaced the song saying its about your lover turning into another type of animal. That is the metaphor. |

Song meanings isn't really needed to decipher what a song such as this is really about. Of course the only dialogue will be about how GCH fell off after The Papercut Chronicles. Silly scenesters. |

| Gatsbys American Dream – The Guilt Engine Lyrics

I love when kids take a songs meaning and make it fit into an exact relationship that they usually are experiencing, and then tell everyone that it is what the song means. Thank you CarrieWithoutSoundx. Why of course that's what the song is about.
Or it's comparing intense human to an engine. |

| Gatsbys American Dream – Speaker For The Dead Lyrics

I think the has split references and influences between the book Speaker of the dead, the great Gatsby, Jurassic Park, and Pompeii. The final stanza and closing of the song adequetely draws them all together to form a consistent message. |

all the lyrics can be translated to sound like someone coming to terms with being atheist...and its a much better cover for a song then just a song about writers block. |

the song is actually called "too scared to move"
Also the line is "standing up against the right on the TV"
as in the political stance. |

| As Tall as Lions – In Case of Rapture Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I can see where you draw the independence vs interdependence view point. The singer is basically saying it's better to have faith in yourself than have to live up to religions beliefs and expectations. In this song the interdependence is on SOMETHING not someone. That something being religion. The bridge basically reaffirms their belief that there is no god and that the only ones truly watching over each other are ourselves.
The band said in their studio blog the song is a "pop song about not believing in god." Simply put that is what the song is about and they do it powerfully.

| Further Seems Forever – New Year's Project Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
|
to me it doesnt sound like it is to someone who he lost. maybe just a strained relationship where he is trying to formulate into words how strongly she makes him feel. There doesnt seem to be any part of this song that hints at a relationship that is already failed, just one that he may have never been able to really describe how he felt about till now. This song was also introduced as a love song when they reunited for bamboozle. |

He writes about summer flings in several songs around this albums time period and it always brought me back to FSF's song Snowbirds and Townies and makes me wonder if they are all related to a certain incident. |

| Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
This song isn't about dancing.
To me i just immediately interpreted the meaning to be "im not gonna convince your boyfriend to stay with you", and the only reason she is confiding in the writer is because of a rift in the couples relationship. The writer uses dancing examples to try and convince the girl that he is just not right for her.
The one thing I really dont get is the whole girl-girl line. maybe it is a lesbian thing, maybe it is a play on words or just a thing only the band would know. Either way all these people taking the meaning behind the song to really be dancing need to not take songs so literally. |

i dont believe much in a god but this is a good song, left open enough to be interpreted in any way you really want it to be directed to. |

you probably read that about the last album... this album seems pretty anti-religion oriented. |

i this kinda gives away what the song is about
"and we fall asleep again with testament
so please let the cleaning begin
evolution..."
this cd's lyrics kind of remind me of ATDi's song writing |

| Circa Survive – Kicking Your Crosses Down Lyrics

i dont know.. I cant say I agree MIripper. I think its pretty much the complete opposite. I think he's condeming organized religion and its teachings of a godless beilef means hell..
I think “Purchase your tickets; I’m kicking your crosses down” are the words of the churches promising salvation... followed by anthony saying "and all the voices sound just like you."
I just saw the two lines being from two different people because of the quotation marks.
I think kicking your crosses down means being forgiven for things you've done wrong. |

| Circa Survive – On Letting Go Lyrics
|
This is how I see religion fitting around this cd.
i think the symbolism and metaphors used throughout this cd are towards the confusion that sets in when you turn your back to the truth to blindly follow a belief..."all i wanted to be was one of your children"...It's almost like a call to a God that they now know isnt there....And this whole cd is "On letting go" of their traditional beliefs of how they were brought up.... Just my view of it. |

I think this song is about taking pills. I dont think as much about suicide.. just the feeling that hes being retrained and not able to say or act how he legitimatly feels, you are taking the executioner line wrong. |

The way Cage can tell and dwell in the most disturbing stories is awing in itself. Not many other rappers can do something like this without getting off track or annoyingly cheesy. |

i think your giving daryl too much credit on that one.
It sounds obvious that he is singing about Cage and his father in the first lines.
