if i hear one more vampire comment, i'm gonna come undone. in a way, it refers back to kiss and control. the subject of the song is being made to conform to the glamour and glitz of hollywood. the killing lights refer to the way the flashbulbs and bright lights in hollywood are driving the subject to basically become a slave to the way of the city...and the lights are killing her actual self. "put on your face and let's pretend these killing lights won't kill us all again" refers to the way the subject has to hide her real self to be accepted, as in the first verse, "am i beautiful?" " am i useable?" and, no, "three a.m. on the city street when the air is sweet and i've had my mouthful" does not refer to a late-night vampire run." to me, it means that the subject is being lured into the hollywood society, like the late-night parties and she's had her fill of the parties for that night. this is also refered to in the first verse, "five a.m. on the bathroom floor from the night before, do you find me dreadful?". just goes to show that no matter what condition these people are in, they always feel a need to impress and conform to other people. to me, this song is a warning against conformity. just be yourself. don't try to please anyone out of your way. |

the character of this song is being blinded by the glamour of hollywood, as explained in the line, "velvet burns wrists while restraining". she dosen't know she's slowly being destroyed by the lifestyle she lives. it's really rather painless. kiss and control means that the lights, whatever they represent, have taken over her and now control her. but "kiss"; she dosen't realize what's happening to her. by the way, what do all the little quotes at the ends of the songs in the booklet that comes with the CD mean? |

i think he's talking about a dream. "don't wake me up"? he's dreaming about all his fans forgetting him. "cause it's apparent that no one cares." he's afraid that all of the people forgetting him will put out the fire inside him that he has for his music. |

the silver and cold, to me, represents a gun. "your sins into me." he's dying for someone he loves. "i only ask you turn away". he dosen't want them to see him die. then, he asks for forgiveness for what he's doing. basically, someone's ending a relationship with him and he just can't cope with the loss. |

to me, davey is saying that, take him or leave him, the music he makes is his heart. He's giving everything to his loyal fans. To the fans who think he has sold out, he is saying this is all he has. The music he makes is his heart. He just wants to be remembered for his music. |
