I'm really not sure, but it makes sense to me that this song is about pregnancy, maybe unexpectedly. First, the title of the song is about thinking of a name for the kid or whatever. "I'd start saving green before breathing" Green = Money Saving all their money for that. The voice on tape thing makes me think of those those baby moniters you put in their room and then carry around the other one so you can hear if anything happens. "I was only one and we weren't prepared for one" He's only one dude, it's hard to handle, and they weren't prepared. The chorus is about how the girl obviously doesn't realise how serious this is, what they've gotten themselves into. ("Know things look lovely to you") Then, "You were walking so peculiar, like you had something to hide", seems to be talking about weighed down walking with the kid, and how you're trying not to let anyone know. "Severing ties between mother and son" either sounds like umbilical cords, or how his mother has disowned him when she finds out he's going to have a kid. Maybe she's religious and they're not married or something... Pretty much agree with Samalamajamjam or whatever and Thrax11. So yuh :) |

hahah this song reminds me a lot of where i live - all us teenagers walk aimlessly around the streets at night and during the day. i reckon it's about a dude who used to live in this town, and then one day he goes back there to find that the teenagers have pretty much given up and gone wild. the girls don't have much pride and the guys have to constantly stay brave to not get taken down. they're basically the lost generation, and the adults are too wrapped up in their own conflicts to do anything. but i dunno. please don't abuse me if i'm stupid :) |
