I think this song is about a person who was in a clique with some other people and he left for awhile to do his own thing. When he came back to the clique he wasn't the same, actually I think it means he acted like he was better than the group. The group then tries their best to let him know they are still friends but the person that is being serenaded isn't getting it. proof "the sun comes up, and it shines all around you, YOU'RE LOST IN SPACE, and the earth is your own." they know he is IN but he isn't acting it around them. First of all, I have to say listening to "When I Woke" is a for album kind of listen. You have to sit down a enjoy the entire album to really know what Michael Glabicki is trying to get out. Here goes nothing. This album is too all the people who went through some issue in their life and never came out the same. Maybe even as early as childhood. "Why does war kill only the small man?". This line is the perfect example of this rebellion onto the issue and then the final end result. Cruel sun could possibly even be intended as "cruel son". "Let it Rain" is the way the friends of this troubled individual treat him. They have to separate themselves from him somehow because they aren't like him and he knows that. deep song if you ask me. |
